At the time of the book, Farspark has been replaced by technology based on the speely. It is possible to "up-convert" and "re-parse the format" of Farspark content so that it can be viewed on a speely. A "Farspark chambre" is the equivalent of a speelycaptor, the Arbre equivalent of an Earth camcorder. Orolo mentions Farspark as being current before he entered the math, thirty years prior to when the novel opens (c. 3660A.R.).
