King David eagerly wanted to expand the borders of Erathia, and when some of his explorers entered the forests to the north, beyond the nation of Phynaxia, they found a type of wood that was well suited for making bows and other weapons. They started building sawmills and settlements, and when the elves warned them that they had crossed the border into AvLee, and were damaging their forest, the humans ignored them. In 646 AS, a messenger from the Duke of AvLee arrived at King David's court and demanded that the humans abandoned all settlements north of Phynaxia, and pay a sum of gold equal to the value of the wood taken from the region. King David refused, and AvLee declared war against Erathia. It's not known when King David passed away, but the Timber Wars lasted until 789 AS, which means that the king spent the rest of his life ruling a kingdom at war.
