  • Binding is a physical, exotic advantage, described in Basic Set, p. 40. It has the special enhancements Engulfing, Only Damaged By X, Sticky, and Unbreakable, and the special limitations Environmental and One-Shot. It is referenced in GURPS Powers™, p. 9, on choosing a power, pp. 42-43, on the form that Binding may take, and p. 161, on using Knot-Tying with Binding when not in combat. P. 43 also gives the new special enhancements Constricting and Suffocating.
  • Binding was the part of a book that held it together. In 2373, Arridor gave a Takarian sandal maker a "copy of the Rules of Acquisition, cheapest binding possible", rather than the food and medicine he needed. (VOY: "False Profits")
  • The Binding was the term used to refer to the sorcery which ensured that the Hylden race remained imprisoned in the Demon Realm, following the Genesis of the Pillars. It was orchestrated by the Ancient Vampires before Nosgoth's recorded history, and sustained by the Pillars of Nosgoth. Janos Audron mentioned the Binding in both Soul Reaver 2 and Legacy of Kain: Defiance.
  • A binding spell is magic that not only restricts the target's movement but can also knock him/her out. Shade cast such a spell against a shopkeeper; a grey mist surrounded him and placed him in a deep sleep.
  • Binding is a "[p]rocess of associating two related elements of information."
  • User is able to bind, imprison, paralyze and/or otherwise stop targets moving normally and possibly completely freezing them where they were. Can be achieved using various means including energy-based or physical restrains or mental effects.
  • Level: Components: V, S, M Casting Time: One minute Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Target: One living creature Duration: See text (D) Saving Throw: Will negates; see text Spell Resistance: Yes
  • The Binding spell came in two versions, major and minor binding.
  • The Binding is first demonstrated in Episode 50, where Master Cyclonis grants several abilities to the Dark Ace while fighting Aerrow and Piper. During the fight, Piper figures out how to do the Binding, and uses it on Aerrow. The Binding is also featured prominently in Episodes 51 and 52, being used extensively by both Piper and Cyclonis. Binding abilities include:
  • Binding is a Shanir power by which Highborn attatch others to their service. Principally used by lords to assure the fealty of their Kendar, some Shanir can bond with animals. The most powerful bonds are those mage by exchange of blood by a Shanir so gifted. All lords must perforce be binders of some measure to function as such, although most are ignorant that the psychic bond more typically employed between a Highborn and Kendar is a Shanir trait.
  • Binding is the process of compressing the breasts using a wrapping or tight piece of clothing in order to create a more masculine or androgynous chest shape. Binding is performed by many people who experience chest dysphoria due to the presence of breasts, as well as people who experience gynecomastia and are uncomfortable with the presence of breasts. People who bind regularly may desire top surgery in order to permanently remove the breasts.

Within the nine Great Houses, each lord is supported by other Highborn of his House who can add their numbers of bound Kendar to his. Women are not supposed to bind others although some, notably Rawneth, flout this custom more or less openly.
Historically, binding was done using strips of cloth such as bandages. However, this method can dangerously compress the lungs, which affects breathing, and can permanently damage the breast tissue. People who wish to bind are now recommended to use specialist binding tops, or home-made equivalents such as sports bras and tightly-fitting shirts.
  • The Binding spell came in two versions, major and minor binding.
