  • Hungry Lumas are seen in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They ask the player for a certain number of Star Bits (and/or coins in Super Mario Galaxy 2) . If the player feeds the required number of star bits to the Luma it will turn into a planet, or even a galaxy. They always leave behind a pink Launch Star after transformed (with the exception of the Hungry Luma in the Sea Silde Galaxy, as the Shrinking tile planet it transformed into is accessible by cannon.). In Super Mario Galaxy, they can be found on the Comet Observatory and different galaxies. In Super Mario Galaxy 2 Hungry Lumas hungry for Coins appear, along with the one hungry for Star Bits. On the map, The player must "call" the Hungry Luma hungry for Star Bits and then the player will be brought back to the ship with the Hungry Luma. The Hungry Luma will stay on Starship Mario until he is fed the Star Bits he requires to transform. In different galaxies, the player can just walk up to the Hungry Luma, and he will ask the player if the player can give him Coins. If the player has enough Coins and choose yes, the Coins will automatically flown into the Hungry Luma's mouth, as opposed to shoot them towards him. But if the player has not enough coins and choose yes, the coin will not feed the Hungry Luma.
