  • The Aquatic Superhero. Aquaman (AKA Arthur Curry AKA Orin) is a DC Comics Superhero with water-based powers. He's probably best known for his Superfriends appearances, the lame nature of that version's powers and the fact that he is in practically every episode, whether this makes sense or not ("What's that? Trouble in the desert? Come on team, we haven't a moment to lose! And let's bring Aquaman with us; his ability to breathe underwater and talk to fish are sure to be useful there!"). In essence, having him take part in anything whatsoever was sort of the super-powered equivalent to Pity Sex.
  • Aquaman is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, the character debuted in More Fun Comics #73 (November 1941). Initially a backup feature in DC's anthology titles, Aquaman later starred in several volumes of a solo title. During the late 1950s and 1960s superhero-revival period known as the Silver Age, he was a founding member of the Justice League of America. In the 1990s Modern Age, Aquaman's character became more serious than in most previous interpretations, with storylines depicting the weight of his role as king of Atlantis.
  • In "A Hero Sits Next Door", he watches Peter Griffin play strip poker with Wonder Woman. "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Fonz" opens with the Griffins watching Aquaman's TV show. He attempts to use his powers to convince a fish to get him a beer, who resists and claims that he is abusing his powers. They begin to argue about it until Aquaman says that this time could've been used to get him a beer. In "Prick Up Your Ears", Peter had a job as Aquaman's assistant. Chris and the (former) Evil Monkey catch Aquaman while fishing in "Hannah Banana" and eat him.
  • Aquaman was born an Atlantean; an amphibious people who thrive both on land and in water. As such, he has enhanced physical abilities inherent to his species; the strength to lift several tons, the speed to swim at hundreds of nautical miles-per-hour, the stamina to stay active for days on end, and the durability to withstand gunfire. He can survive underwater indefinitely, as he can 'breathes' underwater as if he were a human on land. Aquaman is also unaffected by extremely cold underwater temperatures, and is unphased by water pressure leagues beneath the sea. His physiology also grants him an extended lifespan and enhanced senses enabling him to see, hear, and smell to a much superior degree than humans.
  • Aquaman is the telepathic ruler of Atlantis and the Earth's oceans, an Atlantean with incredible strength and speed as well as the ability to command all sea-life. His unique physiology allows him to survive on land and at the ocean's greatest depths of pressure and temperature. He is a founding member of the Justice League of America. Besides being a master swimmer and having the ability to communicate with marine creatures, Aquaman has demonstrated superhuman strength, durability, senses and equilibrium. He is also a master of weaponry, an expert tactician and an accomplished diplomat. His major weakness is that he must return to water after a brief period of time on land or his powers will be reduced. In the comics, Wonder Woman is an unrequited love interest. Aquaman has demonstrated feelings for her, and once accidentally confessed them while gripping her magic lasso during a team-up. In a fight against the Queen of Fables, she was put under a spell and Aquaman had to be the prince that kissed her awake.

In essence, having him take part in anything whatsoever was sort of the super-powered equivalent to Pity Sex. Said Superfriends persona also appears in a highly-unknown (only released in Lat Am) official parody series called Aquaman and Friends Action Hour, which resembles Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Aquaman's powers have varied over the years; in all incarnations, he is mainly known for his ability to breathe underwater, swim at high speeds and communicate with sea life. He also often has something to do with The DCU's version of Atlantis.
Aquaman has been adapted for screen many times, first appearing in animated form in the 1967 The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure and then in the related Super Friends programme. Since then he has appeared in various animated productions, including prominent roles in the 2000s series Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, as well as several DC Universe Animated Original Movies. Actor Alan Ritchson also portrayed the role in live action in the television show Smallville. Jason Momoa will portray the character in the upcoming film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and others in the DC Extended Universe, including a solo film in 2018. The character's original 1960s animated appearances left a lasting impression, meaning Aquaman is widely recognised in popular culture. Jokes about his wholesome portrayal in Super Friends and perceived weaker powers and abilities have been staples of comedy programmes and stand-up routines, leading DC at several times to attempt to make the character edgier or more powerful in comic books. Modern comic book depictions have attempted to reconcile these various aspects of his public perception, casting Aquaman as serious and brooding, saddled with an ill reputation, and struggling to find a true role and purpose beyond his public side as a deposed king and a fallen hero.
  • Aquaman is published by DC Comics. The current price per issue is $2.99.
  • The Aquaman has come out in the following 1/64 scale versions:
  • Aquaman was taken away and shackled to a reef near a volcano together with his son, and Orm sent them plummeting toward the lava. Aquaman managed to break one arm free, but in the face of the imminent death of his infant son, he used his metal belt buckle to sever his own left hand, which he later replaced with a prosthetic harpoon. After rescuing his son, Aquaman learned that Orm had activated the Doomsday Thermal Reactor, a last-resort weapon Aquaman had built to melt the polar ice caps in case of war with the surface-dwellers. Aquaman set off to disarm it and stop his brother. The two brothers sparred until the ice bridge collapsed. Aquaman ignored his brother's pleas for his life and let him fall into his death. Thereafter, Aquaman pondered about how his own fear for the surface-dwellers put his kingdom and family in peril. Aquaman attended Superman's funeral. Afterwards, he was a candidate to replace Superman on the Justice League's initial roster. While Lobo claimed the initial spot, only by intrusion and force, the records Superman uncovered in the destroyed Earth's future listed Aquaman as a member. It is safe to assume, then, that had Superman not returned to his present, Aquaman would have become the eighth member.

Aquaman has also appeared in animated and live-action television programs. In pop culture, Aquaman has frequently been the subject of mockery for his distinctive powers, which are often comically portrayed as useless in comparison to those of other superheroes.
  • In "A Hero Sits Next Door", he watches Peter Griffin play strip poker with Wonder Woman. "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Fonz" opens with the Griffins watching Aquaman's TV show. He also appears in "Baby Not On Board", as Stewie Griffin compares Peter's uselessness to that of Aquaman's. A girl is being raped on the shore and Aquaman is in the ocean unable to use his powers on land. He throws a starfish, which does nothing. In the beginning of "Family Goy", all the Griffins are dressed up as Justice League characters (excluding Meg Griffin), and Chris Griffin is dressed up as Aquaman. Chris and the (former) Evil Monkey catch Aquaman while fishing in "Hannah Banana" and eat him. Peter, who believes Aquaman is his hero, reveals Aquaman's secret identity of Arthur Curry in "Quagmire's Dad", where his friends are saved by Aquaman, who quickly changes back to Curry. Aquaman appears when Peter and the guys watch The Superfriends Accountant in "Grumpy Old Man". Glenn Quagmire dresses as Aquaman as part of Peter's plan to reunite Billy Finn with his wife Joanne in "Be Careful What You Fish For". Aquaman is usually voiced by Seth MacFarlane. In "Grumpy Old Man" he is voiced by Danny Smith.

The King of Atlantis was gifted with an impressive power of telepathy, allowing him to summon and mentally control all manner of animals and creatures that live underwater. He is also capable of creating solid water constructs, taking the shape of concussive water spheres, a sword and shield, or even powerful mitts for his fists. His adventurous willpower not only enables him to fight courageously against impossible odds, but gives him perfect recall of every detail of his expeditions, trials, and quests.
