He played for the Pontiac Chiefs of the Michigan-Ontario League in 1939-40 and 1940-41. In 1941-42 he joined the Fort Worth Rangers and in 1942-43 the Windsor Colonial Tool team. He retired in 1948. In 1958-59 he was the coach of the Green Bay Bobcats.

Bukovich made it to the Indianapolis Capitals in 1943-44 and was called up to the Detroit Red Wings in 1943-44 and in 1944-45. In a total of 17 games he scored 7 goals and 3 assists. He then continued with the Capitals until 1947-48, when he split a season between the Cleveland Bartons and the Minneapolis Millers. He retired in 1948. In 1958-59 he was the coach of the Green Bay Bobcats.
