| abstract | - Jean-Guy Trudel was born October 18, 1975 in Sudbury, Ontario. A graduate of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League QMJHL, Trudel spent four seasons in the league with stops with the Beauport Harfangs, Verdun Collège Français and the Hull Olympiques before making his professional debut in 1996-97. After scoring 50 goals and 121 points in final year of junior, Trudel split his first professional season with the Colonial Hockey League's Quad City Mallards, the ECHL's Peoria Rivermen, the International Hockey League (IHL)'s San Antonio Dragons and Chicago Wolves. The Sudbury native returned to Peoria in 1997-98 and joined the IHL's Kansas City Blades the following year. An offensively gifted player, Trudel signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Coyotes in the summer of 1999 and made his NHL debut later that season playing one game while spending the better part of the season with the team's AHL affiliate the Springfield Falcons. Over the next three seasons Trudel led Springfield in scoring and was a two-time AHL Second Team All-Star in 1999-00 and 2001-02 and an AHL First Team All-Star in 2000-01. After three seasons in the Coyote organization, Trudel signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Wild in the summer of 2002. In his first season with the Wild organization, Trudel led the team's AHL affiliate the Houston Aeros in scoring while suiting up for one game with the parent club. The following season Trudel signed as a free agent with HC Ambri-Piotta of the Nationalliga A and spent four seasons with the club. In June, 2007 Trudel returned to North America after signing as a free agent with the St. Louis Blues. He spent one season with the Peoria Rivermen and then returned to Switzerland to play for the ZSC Lions.
