  • ARMS is a fighting sports game developed by Nintendo that uses extendable arms for battle. It's similar to boxing in that the player strikes their opponents with their fists but, the Arms stretch to reach the opponent across the stage. ARMS can be played on split-screens, online or with Switch vs Switch.
  • Arms is a Badnik with long, bendy arms. He is the first competitor in the game Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.
  • In range of attack, a line of squares (5px width/height) shoots out of its arm as the appear and disappear in a way similar to the Angel's "yo-yo" attack, usually in a rate of 5 sq/s, whilst cannot pass through terrain nor enemies (there are a few exceptions to this, however). All arms are used as offensive weapons, and the Cyborg will not be able to attack (either the arm after AGI has passed, or with its leg) until all the squares have returned. The average Range is 40. If the arm is unequipped, it will NOT hinder the Cyborg's AI. Due to the momentum in sending/getting the arm, the cyborg can still be dragged, but the line of squares will sparse out and dense in the further and near the cyborg is dragged from the source of the shooting spot, respectively.

  • Or whatever term from Jailbreak, Problem Sleuth, or Homestuck you prefer. Newly introduced characters tend to have no visible arms, and attempts to grow or retrieve arms result in getting berated by the narrator. You wonder why you didn't see them before. In the Midnight Crew intermission, Snowman actually did retrieve Spades Slick's arm from a safe. In some cases, it may be used as a pun where "arms" refers to weapons, but the character responds in the same fashion.
  • There are two types of arms; normal arms capable of holding weapons, and weapon arms that are weapons: Normal arms are prehensile, five fingered units designed to hold weapons such as rifles, pulse rifles, blades, etc. The type of arm used determines key stats, such as the regular ones (AP, weight, energy drain), but also more specific ones (aim precision, blading ability).
  • The tastiest part of the arm is the armpit, which comes in a variety of flavours, though most are of the salted variety. (at least according to pat bishop, rus limbaugh says that he likes the elbow best, especially off of an infant!) The worst part of the arm to eat is the wrist, as it leaves a bad after taste and contains too many vitamins, which are bad for you.
  • The acronym ARMS (or sometimes ARMs, or just ARM) is the motif recurring throughout the Wild Arms series of games. The meaning of ARMS changes constantly, often within the context of each game itself. The explanation of each of the known uses of the acronym is explained in the titles below. This was officially reverted to "Wild Arms", with correct capitalization, by Sony of America, though documentation for all the games in the series conflates the issue. The original "Wild Arms" game, for instance, can sometimes still be called "WILD ARMS", even in new material.

abstract
  • The tastiest part of the arm is the armpit, which comes in a variety of flavours, though most are of the salted variety. (at least according to pat bishop, rus limbaugh says that he likes the elbow best, especially off of an infant!) The worst part of the arm to eat is the wrist, as it leaves a bad after taste and contains too many vitamins, which are bad for you. The first xylophone was built out of arm bones left over from a nice arm-meal. The Greek word "xylo" actually means "oh my GOD, you just ate your own arm, you psycho! I'm going to call the mental institution using my". Put "xylo" and "phone" together, and what do you get? Correct - you get "arm sound machine". Isn't language great?

  • The acronym ARMS (or sometimes ARMs, or just ARM) is the motif recurring throughout the Wild Arms series of games. The meaning of ARMS changes constantly, often within the context of each game itself. The explanation of each of the known uses of the acronym is explained in the titles below. The first three Wild Arms games used the form "WILD ARMS" for their titles when initially released, with all the letters capitalized. Due to bad localization, the website RPGamer.com put the name forward as "Wild ARMs" (due to the ARMs acronym being used within the game itself). This naming convention has earned a place within the fandom, but has never been correct. This was officially reverted to "Wild Arms", with correct capitalization, by Sony of America, though documentation for all the games in the series conflates the issue. The original "Wild Arms" game, for instance, can sometimes still be called "WILD ARMS", even in new material. To confuse matters a little more, in some of the press release material for "Wild Arms 4", xSeed, the localization company, relied on RPGamer's error and cited "Wild ARMs" on a few occasions in their own material. This was an error admitted to later, and was corrected where found. (The rushed release of Wild Arms 4 didn't help matters either, meaning that this and other errors with the release crept through anyway.) In a final move to end the confusion on the brand, Sony Entertainment has declared that the series itself is named "Wild Arms", with no acronym. This is presumably because both American and European copyright and trademark laws don't allow for the protection of an acronym with multiple meanings.

Weapon arms are units that are in themselves weapons, have their own ammo and damage capacity. Most have two firing modes, regular fire, and a higher damage mode more suited to AC combat. However, they greatly lack in defense compared to normal arms. Weapon arms can be useful in keeping the weight of an AC down, as they are lighter than having separate arms and weapons. They also suffer from high ammo use, as both arms use the same ammo pool and fire simultaneously.

  • Or whatever term from Jailbreak, Problem Sleuth, or Homestuck you prefer. Newly introduced characters tend to have no visible arms, and attempts to grow or retrieve arms result in getting berated by the narrator. You wonder why you didn't see them before. Humorously, John Egbert quite literally had to obtain his arms from his Magic Chest, although they weren't what one might at first expect. The Wayward Vagabond trumps the player's initial suggestion of retrieving one's arms by interrupting the command to point out that he had them already, and the command is still given to Jade Harley even when her arms are clearly visible at the time. The Aimless Renegade's command was to quickly retrieve his side-arms, so he picks up his pistols. The Peregrine Mendicant has been the only major character so far, other than the Midnight Crew, to never receive this command. In the Midnight Crew intermission, Snowman actually did retrieve Spades Slick's arm from a safe. In some cases, it may be used as a pun where "arms" refers to weapons, but the character responds in the same fashion. Perhaps the greatest arms gag of all was enacted in A6I5, with John's arm retroactively spread throughout the Homestuck narrative via retcon mechanics. There are 52 (4x13) such arms to be found throughout Homestuck.
