Among those, the most famous are the commented essays on historical mythology and the Shurilizuk, as well as his edition of Neth's books on Black Magic. Many of these tomes were lost during an attack to the temple on the 71st of the Growing Moon, 429. The records of the attack show that both the motivations and the culprits were unclear. On the one hand, Beleth was accused of trying to steal the Tome of the Lost, until then safely locked in the vault of the temple. On the other, Marthonis was accused of trying to steal either the Tome of the Lost, or the Crystal Machine. The custody of both objects and the investigations led by Mirith and Andris on the origins of the assault gave place to another of the many diplomatic scandals between the two cities, but that is another story. Since as far back as I could remember I knew the Goddess was protecting us. After what happened…attacked, bound, left for dead…in the grand temple no less…I have begun to question my faith… if the Goddess is here to protect, why would she let this happen to me? I have been a servant of the Goddess my entire life. “ ” Father Cecil, Cecil, Nafets and Magic Stones Cecil was badly hurt and was taken to the capital of the Kingdom to be healed by Nafets, his close friend. After the pillage, Cecil was never the same again. First, he passed the original machine received from Seth to Mirith. More importantly, he started questioning his faith in the Goddess of Life. While recovering in Mirith, he stated more than once that he could not understand what had happened to him and to the temple, and that his curiosity regarding the Tome of the Lost was increasing. Eventually, he read the forbidden tome and announced officially that he was leaving the order. To replace him at the temple, he named the cleric Amalphus Vei, who had only recently returned from a long absence. He also gave Vei the tome, so that it would be kept once again in the vaults of Brigobaen. Cecil, then, left for a journey in search for truth. He did not say where he was going, nor wanted to be escorted. It is rumoured that he has lived with the Centaurs during the following moons, which might be the origin of him being referred to as their "guardian". Don't think of the Goddess, think from your gut, your instincts. “ ” Father Cecil, Cecil, Nafets and Magic Stones Some time later, a beggar appears at the bank of Mirith, saying he has business in the Castle. At first, no one wanted to let him past the bridge, but as soon as Cecil removed his hood, he was warmly welcomed. He had come to talk to Beleth about the spell learnt in the Tome of the Lost, necessary to find and kill Tirana, and how they had to pay a visit to the Centaurs first, and have them agreeing to help the mages in their quest. After the death of Tirana at the Centaurs' Cave, Cecil returned to Mirith, where he is said to spend longer periods of time nowadays.

He is seen most of the time, conducting the choir in a 'Hip' fashion, e.g. spinning, dancing, pulling faces, in his debut episode, Alice had to avoid being accidentally hit by him when he tries out for the choir master position. He made his last appearance in 2004 in the episode 'Merry Christmas'.

(Web World Wars) Mouse and AndrAIa searched the ruins of the diner and found Cecil. They attached his upper bar to a Zip Board so that he could move without the track. His arm was injured and was placed in a sling. Cecil was brought to the Principal Office where he was reunited with Dot. She was very happy to see Cecil and gave him a hug, but he didn't want to show such emotion in front of the customers. (To Mend and Defend) Dot's Diner was not rebuilt due to the continuing Viral Wars. Because of this Cecil remained in the Princial Office until it was evacuated when Megabyte attacked it and took over. (Megaframe) When Mainframe began to crash, Cecil was evacuated to the Principal Office along with the rest of the city's population. He was seen serving drinks to some of the city's inhabitants, including Mr. Mitchell, Old Man Pearson, Binky, and Algernon. They were getting drunk and throwing glasses at him. Cecil lost it and left the room. (End Prog) After the city was restarted Dot's Diner was restored. Cecil returned to work at the Diner, serving as much criticism as he used to. Mouse did not care for his remarks when she hurriedly asked for the check and sliced his bow tie with her katana. (Cross Nodes) Cecil was asked by AndrAIa to watch Little Enzo but he simply said, "What am I, a Nanny?" Matrix promised to offline Cecil for not watching the little sprite. When a fake Bob came to Mainframe he asked Dot to marry him. She asked Cecil to be her wedding planner. Dot and the fake Bob wanted to get married in the war room but Cecil protested and said they had to get married in a grand room like the Principal Office's main Entrance Hall. Cecil did a wonderful job creating a beautiful wedding despite the fact the wedding failed. The fake Bob was revealed to be Megabyte in disguise. The beautiful wedding hall was destroyed in the ensuing fight between Megabyte and Bob. (Null Bot of the Bride) At the time of the wedding, Cecil had been fitted with a special zip board that connected directly to his upper pole. This one was also colored the same as his upper bar.

- Cecil relies on his experiences as both a dark knight and paladin, and may freely switch between either during battle. Aerial combat is his forte, combining fast movements with expert swordplay. In the original game, he was Lord Captain of Baron's airship force, the Red Wings, until circumstances led to his dismissal and embarkation on a journey of self-discovery. Eventually he was able to overcome his dark past and start down the path of a paladin.

An observant, smart man, he realized that the biggest trouble Miles Vorkosigan was likely to have as a young officer was learning to obey not-very-bright superior officers (and to extract obedience from similar people below him). If he managed it, then he would be allowed the most-coveted posting possible – a position on the biggest, fastest ship around, the Prince Serg.
