Adult
  • *Solitary creatures, most of their interactions with other dragons are territorial disputes. *Every spitfire has a “signature;” this design is incorporated into all of their work, including their glass cave. *Very prideful, spitfires constantly work to improve their glassblowing and will often destroy and rebuild old glass caves once their skill has improved in order to hide the fact that they once created such inferior art. *Spend months before mating season creating a glass work that shows off their fire spitting skill, traits that are important to them, and their signature; spitfires pick mates based on matching desires and similar glass blowing skill level. *Mates are not permanent but spitfires do only mate with one partner in a mating season. *Either one or neither parent might stay to raise the clutch with hatchlings whose parent did not stay rotating between clutches with an adult around. *Parents leave the nesting grounds once hatchlings begin spitting fire. *The more practiced and controlled their firebreathing is, the more respected their territory may be.

descr
  • This egg has brightly colored markings on it.
Element
  • Fire
Habitat
  • Desert
  • *Need wide open spaces and a lack of vegetation so their home does not burn down due to their fire spitting. *Need plenty of sand in order to practice their glass blowing. *Avid sunbathers, they enjoy open spaces with plentiful sunshine. *Perfectly suited towards life in the desert.
anatomy
  • *Possess a venom which mixes with their fiery breath to produce not only the blue color of their flames, but also flames that are corrosive and toxic. *Close to the ground, giving them a low center of balance, making them extremely sturdy and well-balanced. *Few spikes coming off their neck, chin, and wings. *Elongated wings and lengthy tail give them a graceful appearance. *Mature hatchlings sprout a spade-like growth at their end of their tail in addition to growing wings. *Spade-like growth on the end of their tail is hard and bony, thinning as spitfires age due to its use as a club. *Sandy color with brilliant turquoise markings and a scaly underbelly.
hatchling
  • *Most aggressive and violent during their hatchling years. *Pick fights over absolutely everything—including exerting their power, playing, displaying emotion , boredom, or hunger. *May end up grievously harming or killing passive or peaceful hatchlings if left alone with them. *If raised by a parent, they will pick fights with their parent, who will hold back from seriously harming them. *Temperamental; fights that start off for fun may quickly turn real fights. *Possessive as young hatchlings, fighting over objects or creatures that are meaningful to them rather than fighting over territory. *Begin spitting fire when their wings come in, causing them to wander off on their own to practice their firebreathing abilities. *Once they can spit fire, hatchlings begin to become less generally aggressive, but more territorial.
Color
  • Brown, turquoise
Release
  • 2010-07-04
Diet
  • *As they sunbathe and nap during the day, spitfires do their hunting at nighttime. *Eat small to medium mammals, birds, and reptiles–prey such as mice, kangaroo rats, roadrunners, owls, lizards, and snakes. *Sharp claws that are honed to delicate points to handle glasswork double as perfect killing and gutting tools for prey. *Eat prey raw or cooked depending on their mood and their catch. *Collect prickly pear cacti during mating season to share with their mate. *Spitfire parents share the proper technique on how to slice prickly pears and extract the most juice from the inside. *Hatchlings quite capable of hunting on their own. *Although rare, any hatchling unable to hunt will subsist on prickly pears until they figure it out, often resulting in dead hatchlings if one is born sickly and weak.

This dragon shares its egg description with the Striped Dragon, albeit found in different biomes. Since the "Happy 6th Birthday" release, it is possible to breed Spitfire dragons with Purple Dragons to produce Ultraviolet Dragons. This hybrid breeding is unique to others because any breeding combination involving an Ultraviolet dragon can still produce the original parent breed (Spitfire or Purple).
