A month later, this inoculation would prove vital in Phlox's discovery that the apparently-dead body of Ensign Travis Mayweather was not, in fact, Mayweather, but rather an extremely sophisticated replication, due to the fact that the microbes in the corpse were all dead, the apparent cause of death would have been harmless to the organisms. It was later determined that this was due to the fact that the technology used to produce the corpse was incapable of replicating a living organism, and that Ensign Mayweather had, in fact, been abducted.
