| abstract | - Patrick Barnett was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps who was also Captain Todd Newell's flight partner. One night, Newell got a call just as the two were about to embark on a flight training exercise and apparently, the call was so distressing that Newell went off by himself and told Barnett to lie low. A few hours later, NCIS were called to investigate the disappearance of both pilots. While searching Barnett's apartment for things that the search dogs could use, Caitlin Todd was attacked by Barnett who placed her in a chokehold before demanding to know why she and Anthony DiNozzo were doing in his apartment. He came out after the bathroom taking a shower. Barnett claimed to be at his girlfriend's place during the incident. Luckily, Kate's partner, Anthony DiNozzo managed to get Barnett to surrender and Barnett was brought to NCIS for questioning where after some TBI/truth by intimidation from Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Barnett told him what had happened and as such, the investigation led the team back to Newell's childhood home, Smokey Corners.
