On January 4, 2007, Verba was arrested on a felony warrant for writing bad checks ($50,000) at the Wynn Resort Hotel/Casino in Nevada.[citation needed] He was eventually released and has since resolved his outstanding debt with Greg Phoenix of Allstate Financial Services a Las Vegas establishment.[citation needed] On February 28, 2007, the Lions released Verba. Verba was arrested again around Thanksgiving 2009 on a warrant out of Clark County, Nevada (Las Vegas) for failure to repay a casino marker (approx. $26,000) at the Palms Resort and Casino.
