  • The skirmish maps always have some kind of symmetry to ensure balance between opponents. A common element on all these maps is that they always have one village or miracle dispenser at the center, which will normally provide a big advantage to whoever gains influence or control over it first. The game ends when only one competitor remains. This is done by destroying the opponents' temples, which in turn is done by taking control of all his villages to deprive them of any influence, then proceed to destroy the building. The skirmish maps are also used in multiplayer matches.

  • Skirmish is a practical fighter. He does not believe in destroying those that may be used in other ways. He believes that by allowing your opponent to grovel before you that they will serve your needs better than dead. He is one of the fastest flyers around when in Starfighter mode. He enjoys the thrill of FTL travel and the freedom of space. His greatest weakness is his love of danger and his love for greater challenges.

A random map generator was integrated into the skirmish and multiplayer modes of Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, and their respective expansions. In earlier games (or earlier versions of said games), progress of a skirmish could not be saved like campaign missions, but this was later enabled in fan patches.

It was released as part of a patch on July 21. As of February, there no plans for future Skirmish content. It features splitscreen (only on consoles) and, unlike in Missions, both players can choose their side, allowing for both cooperative and versus play. There are also different difficulty settings. This is the first singleplayer mode in the game to be added via patch, and the second offline mode in the game. Unlike multiplayer, players can't use their own skin. Instead, it is random for Rebel players, and Imperial players are always Stormtroopers. Players are able to use one of their star card hands from multiplayer in addition to two preset hands like Missions. However, players are currently unable to use their own trait, and due to a bug, cards that were included with the Death Star DLC will not appear in Skirmish, instead being treated as an empty slot. Hero and vehicle power-ups are much easier to find as they show the locations, plus they appear much faster. Bots in skirmish are considerably different than their counterparts in missions. They all have the same health as a normal player, have names and have much more variety in weapons, equipment, and, in the Rebels' case, appearance. However, they use the same AI animations as they have in missions and survival such as using cover and reacting to certain types of damage. Bots can also use vehicles, complete objectives such as activating or disabling uplink stations, and attack or defend AT-ATs but cannot use any hero pickups except for Hero Ships in Fighter Squadron. The damage the bots deal and their reaction times vary based on the difficulty, meaning the higher the level, the more damage they give and the faster they react. The score the player gets won't affect their credit amount, nor their k/d ratio.

However after an incident regarding a human[3], Merlitz was kicked out of his old adventuring team[4]. They ran into "Merlitz" (it was actually Abel in disguise) again at the Lost Lake Inn [5], while investigating for some Cubi[6]. The party left the inn at "Merlitz"'s request[7], though they briefly considered attacking the Cubi they found[8]. The party has not been seen since.
