This desire to ensure safety goes further when it is shown that he is the founder of Bush Rescue, the group devoted to fighting against Boss Cass' schemes and plots for domination. As the leader, he organizes Ty and the other members to strike back against Cass' forces and aid those in the Southern Rivers region when required. Of course, this sometimes entails something as mundane as ensuring packages are delivered on time. It is also shown that he operates several watering holes throughout the region. Perhaps it's there where he receives a lot of the "hints" he provides in the series (as Maurie tends to phrase several of the hints in "I knew this guy who knew this guy...who said you could do [verb]" fashion).
