Synopsis
  • Professor Potter leaves his new computer MANIAC with Lois Lane and Lana Lang for safekeeping. Lois asks it to compute Superman’s secret identity and tell her how to get him to marry her. MANIAC does not reveal the secret to Lois, but causes her to suspect Clark is Superman.
  • Stymied so far in her attempts to find her father's killer and destroy the 100, the Thorn believes she must use the media in her campaign and also enlist Superman's help. To do this, she reasons that she must gain the aid of Lois Lane.
  • Lois Lane returns from South America six weeks later to announce that she is quitting her staff job at the Daily Planet to become a free-lancer. Her first new story comes from investigating a crooked landlord who exploits aged tenants, during which Superman has to save her life, but she does not rekindle a romance with him. When she comes back to Metropolis, Lois gets three new roommates--Julie Spence, Marsha Mallow, and Kristin Cutler.
