First debuting in Pokémon Aether, Nether, and Tether Versions, as well as in Pokémon ANT, they are generally depicted as dressing in somewhat simple clothing that focuses on shades of purple and white, as well as largely appearing to be perfectly calm and quite stoic. Due to Nanten not being connected in any major way to the Xeno League, the need and want for such a thing has been met with the introduction of Pokémon Dojos, each one headed by a Gym Leader equivalent, known as a Pokémon sensei. The average Rounin's Pokémon journey will consist of them travelling the island and attending the various dojos, where they are taught in ways of Pokémon raising and training, as well as various other skills that can prove useful. Once they have learned all they can or wish to from the sensei, they can then challenge them to battle, and if victorious they will receive that dojo's signboard, proof that they have successfully conquered it. Since they effectively act as ordinary Pokémon Trainers within their land, they specialize in all types of Pokémon, not constraining themselves to just one one or even several. Interestingly, most Trainers who who were not born on or started their journey in Nanten Island are not initially referred to by the title of Rounin until they have conquered their first dojo.
