When Kaito was in the Ninja Academy, his classmates often remarked on how quiet he was and how strange his hair looked, being the only child in the Academy with snow-white hair. During his time at the Academy, he was seen as a genius student, but he had a habit of keeping to himself. Even after school, he would be by himself, training constantly by himself. Graduating from the Academy with the second top grades, and was assigned to an unknown Genin team with an unknown commander. It was said however that he did not get along well with his teammates. He was promoted to Chūnin after taking the Exams only once, and was later promoted to Jōnin.
