abstract
  • Samir al-Aziz (born May 3278) was the terrorist leader of the Republican Guard. Formerly, al-Aziz was a major figure in Kafuri government, serving as Foreign Minister and as Chief Minister. After the collapse of the Nord-minority government, al-Aziz was appointed as the Foreign Minister of the Alfarsi Government. His appointment continued under in the Zayn Nasri cabinet. In early 3331, shortly after the start of the Great Majatran War, Samir al-Aziz founded the Republican Guard, the official military-wing of the NDP. During the summer of 3331, Samir al-Aziz was poisoned and nearly killed. Little information was revealed regarding the incident and many reports began to point fingers at Badaran agents. When the New Republic was established in 3333, al-Aziz was promoted to become the first Chief Minister. Samir al-Aziz resigned as Chief Minister a year later, after his Republican Guard attempted to assassinate President Nasri and raid the presidential palace in Lehonti. The incident came following announcement of a ceasefire in the Great Majatran War and a high potential for peace agreements. Since the resignation, al-Aziz has left his family and been in hiding. The Republican Guard was designated a terrorist organization and the military began operations to destroy its presence in rural Kafuristan. On August 7, 3338, Samir al-Aziz and four others were arrested in Kalvere International Airport in Zardugal after attempting to fly out of the country on Arkon Air 109. They intended to go to Ikradon. A single Justice of the Zardic Federal Court ruled that they were eligible for extradition, their appeal to the full Federal court failed, and the Supreme Court declined to hear his case. Thus, a year and a day after their apprehension, al-Aziz and his companions were extradited to Kafuristan to stand charges. After the return of al-Aziz and the others to Kafuristan, they were sentenced to life in prison without any possibility of parole. During the legal processes concerning al-Aziz, his wife, Alia, filed for divorce and removed the al-Aziz named from herself and their children.
