  • Mary Langton was the mother of Ray Langton and his younger sister Janice, and the paternal grandmother of Tracy. The Langton's lived at 2 Gas Street, wheret the children were born. However, while the children were young, Mary died, and her husband soon afterwards, leaving the still-young Ray and Janice to fend for themselves; both turned to crime. Janice was imprisoned for violence and Ray was constantly in and out of trouble with the police. Ray cleaned up his act and got a job as a builder under Len Fairclough. He married Deirdre Hunt in 1975 and their daughter, Tracy, followed in 1977. He later emigrated to Holland for a new job, leaving his family behind, and contacted Deirdre asking for a divorce in 1978. However, Janice remained a troublemaker. She visited Ray in January 1969, staying with him and Len at 9 Coronation Street; she was escaping her probation officer, and with help from her borstal boyfriend Bob Neale they stole £500 and Dave Smith's car. By November, Janice was in a remand home, and she had died by 2005.
