  • Special Operations is a division of the Autobot army that takes part in incredibly dangerous missions. Jazz is the head of Special Operations and has a whole unit at his disposal. Traditionally, however, Jazz has usually taken on the most dangerous missions himself. It's not ego, he's just the best bot for the job. Unfortunately, this also means we have no idea who else is a member of special operations.

Intel Special Operations are limited time challenges where players can earn unique Boss items through battle and even a new hero by completing specified objectives. Once the time for the mission has expired, the hero is put back in the vault. Special Operations can be accessed from the Flight Deck or the Mission screen. While normal require 10 energy to access battles, Spec Ops also require Unstable Iso-8 to do the events. It costs Unstable Iso-8 for battles and for Deploy missions. It can be obtained through gifts from friends, dropped in battles or deploys, or purchased from the store However, once the mission is expired that flavor of Unstable Iso-8 goes away with it. Players can do both and Special Operations at the same time without aborting the other. All Special Operation Missions scales difficulty to the players' agent level, much like premium missions, as opposed to free missions, which a fixed agent level was given and was scaling difficulties to agent level after the mission was 5-starred. Spec Ops 1 cost 5 Unstable Iso-8 for both Battles (including Bosses and Mini-Bosses) and Deploy Missions, while Spec Ops 2 has changed to 10 Unstable Iso-8 for Low / Medium / High Threat Battles and Deploy Missions, and 20 Unstable Iso-8 for Mini-Boss and Boss Battles. In Special Operations 1, players were required to 5-star all missions to recruit Mockingbird. Starting with Special Operations 2, players were instead required to complete 25 (or 26) Tasks in order (as opposed to 5-starring all missions) to recruit a hero, or costume (SO 26). Some Spec Ops have Side Tasks that appear in the middle of tasks to recruit a hero. The notification will appear each time you login the game until a player unlocks Special Operations. As of now, there are 36 Special Operation Chapters. Players can resume the current Spec Ops mission from Flight Deck directly by clicking an orange Resume button.

Where the objective is usually as nebulous as the opponent, and often just part of a larger scheme. A "special operation" can include assassinations, kidnappings, burglaries, sabotage, smuggling, courier service, full-scale assaults, and bodyguard duty. The primary feature of "special operations" is secrecy. "Plausible deniability" ceases to be a phrase, moves past being an active term, and becomes a way of life. Evey part of the mission has to be shrouded in secrecy, not just before the mission, but after it, too. In short, a "special operation" means a great deal of trouble just to conceal yourseld and the mission from discovery. And you can't even brag about them, so forget looking to increase your renown among other mercenaries. Special Operations is a dark twist on the already shady world of Merc: 2000. It includes more information on the organizations that most mercenaries will get to know on a business basis: the CIA, DIA, FBI, KGB, GRU, MI-6, etc. It also includes enhanced combat rules, including rules for nonlethal combat, precision weapons fire, new melee weapons, the effects of antitank weapons on living creatures, and weapon specialization. Of course, Special Operations contains adventures, both for the survivalist world of Twilight: 2000 and the more complex politics of Merc: 2000. [[category:

The Blades are equipped with only the finest weapons, and the finest armour. They are fitted with the Special Operations Harness, which has enhanced armour, enhanced stealth features, additional sensors and an advanced HUD, allowing them to seek and destroy their enemy in all conditions. They are armed with a variety of weapons, which ever one is required for them by their mission and often take light support vehicles, or even heavy armour, when the situation demands it. They are fitted with active camouflage to hide from view, and are often expected to silence any witnesses. The training regimen of the Blades is brutal, and they are expected to continue their drills and training when they become full blades. They are trained in many weapon disciplines, though some Blades choose to focus in and excel in a single area, and they are also expected to be capable of any combat insertion, including aerial insertion, dropship insertion, drop pod insertion, cover ground insertion and even false flags insertion. Blades are expected to be exemplars of the way of the shadow, disciplined, skilled, valorous and fighting to the end, when they cannot fight their way out. They are expected to operate against hostile militarise in a variety of roles and against internal strife, operating both in and out of armour to bring down traitors.
