He slightly improved in his lone 1951 start, which came at Martinsville. Starting last (23rd) in the field, Grant again struggled but this time finished 20th. But Grant finally found some rhythm by the 1952 season, when he made his final four starts. Despite two DNFs, Grant finished no worse than a 22nd at Hillsboro, finishing in the top-nineteen three times. This included a career-best 14th place run at Martinsville and a 15th place showing in his final career race at North Wilkesboro.
