In the fall of 2005, Sutton transferred to Homicide from the North-East detectives squad, following rumors of an affair with her superior, Sergeant White. Her looks and reputation led to a chilly reception from Nick Vera, as well as some advances from Scotty Valens. In truth, the rumors of an affair were completely unfounded. Sergeant White had continually made unwanted advances towards Sutton, even parking outside her house. When asked by Scotty why she didn't simply explain this, she argued she shouldn't have to. Sutton's stint at Homicide was brief, no more than a few weeks, before she apparently transferred out. She was already long gone when Lieutenant John Stillman offered Kat Miller a spot in the squad. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
