  • Scrap was a UNSC-controlled planet located between the Inner and Outer Colonies that was used as a landfill world. During the Human-Covenant War it was quickly abandoned by the UNSC, as the use of military assets to protect what was essentially a giant landfill was deemed to be a waste. Because of the lack of UNSC traffic this decision resulted in, the Covenant also overlooked the planet during their sweep of the colonies. As the war neared its conclusion, many people decided that they would have a far better chance of survival on Scrap than on their home planets, and ventured there in search of a safe haven.
