Synopsis
  • Thor has called the forbidden name of the Disir and is patiently waiting for them to come to him. At the moment, the Disir are mentally debating whether to answer the call and take out Thor. Not willing to risk the possibility of him actually freeing the Eir-Gram from Mephisto's realm, Brun, Kara and Gondul go to Hel to stop Thor. As they attack Thor, the Thunder God calls out to his parents, Odin and Gaea. Though his father is too far away to help him, his mother is with him right now and can expel the sword from her domain. Having heard his call, Gaea enables the Eir-Gram to be withdrawn, allowing Thor to quickly dismembers the Disir. Brun gloats that his victory is for naught, for the rest of her sisters will feed on the souls of Hel and end their curse. Calling them all liars and oathbreakers, Thor demands that they admit to invading Hel, thereby violating their curse. Brun refuses to, but when Thor notices a panicked Gondul, growing fearful of death, he approaches her and demands that she speak truthfully about where they truly invaded. Ultimately, Gondul speaks, "Hel", sealing her sisters' fate. Instantly, the Disir disappear, just before they could overpower Tyr. With the souls of the dead saved, Hela awakens, before arriving in Hell, where she confronts Mephisto. Mephisto denies any desire to even invade Hel. Thor and Hela return to Hel, before the latter expresses her gratitude in saved the dead. She then opens a portal back to Asgard. However, Thor first asks to speak with Loki, only for Hela to tell him that her father does not dwell in Hel. In part of his deal to grant a piece of Hell for the dead, Loki had himself written out of the books of Hel, meaning his soul is out there, vulnerable to the Disir. Thor refuses to believe it, knowing that his stepbrother would've had something else planned. Looking at the Eir-Gram, he realizes something and rushes through the portal. Back in Asgard, Heimdall alerts Balder to Tyr's return. But before the King of Asgard could drink an obviously poisoned drink made by Kelda, Thor arrives and stabs her in the chest. A flashback then shows that while Loki was restoring Kelda's heart to her body, he secretly took a piece of her soul to forge the Eir-Gram. The cost of doing so would change Kelda, make her not herself. Realizing what she almost did, Kelda breaks down crying. Mephisto is viewing this from his domain, musing the irony of victory. He then looks to a ring on his ringfinger, which are actually the Disir, bound to the ring and his servants for much longer, as his contract with Loki has been extended.

quotation
  • I pray that what I have done does not lead to any...mischief. But if the memories ever return...know this: I'm sorry, Kelda. If I could, I would make this sacrifice myself...but purity of spirit was never amongst my merits.
