He served in the assembly for 30 years before giving up his seat. At the age of 57 he returned to run for election as president. McDonald served 2 full terms before he fell ill to a series of heart attacks. On the 20 April 4103 he stepped down as president to take a break from politics. During his tenure he successfully handled the Tyberian Trade Embargo and ended the unpopular intervention in the Ithanian War. McDonald is currently married with 3 children. His youngest child Maria is currently a member of the Grand Assembly and is the Spokesperson for Youth in his Cabinet.
