  • After Wendy ran away from home, her mother Belle sat down beside her. "My dear, you seem so sad. Tell me, what's the matter, and why are you crying?" Wendy looked at her mother, trying not to cry, but the tears she was holding back, suddenly burst. "Oh, Mom! Dad is so mean to me! He is worse than Gaston! He destroyed Peter Pan's statue, and now I ran away from home, and now I can't go back home, ever again!" Wendy began to cry on her mother's chest. "There, there. I know how you feel, dear." Belle said, soothingly as she began to sing: Belle: Stay awake Don't rest your head Don't lie down Is soft

Belle said, soothingly as she began to sing: Belle: Stay awake Don't rest your head Don't lie down Upon your bed While the moon drifts in the sky Stay awake Don't close your eyes As Wendy cried and cried, her mother hugged her gently as she continued to sing: Belle: Though the world is Fast asleep Though your pillow Is soft And deep You're not sleepy As you seem Stay awake Don't nod and dream Stay awake Don't nod And Dream. As the song was finished, Wendy cried so hard, she hugged her mother and Belle comforted her daughter. "Please don't cry. I'm here for you." Belle told her. "Don't worry, things will look better in the morning." Belle said, putting her daughter on a leaf bed and tucked her in. "Good night, my dear." Belle said, sweetly as she left the girl, while she cried herself to sleep.
