| abstract | - Peter Horachek (born January 26, 1960) is a Canadian ice hockey coach. He is currently an Assistant Coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs and was previously head coach for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Horachek played junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals. Although he was not selected in the NHL Draft, he signed a minor league contract with the Rochester Americans and had a long career in the American Hockey League and the International Hockey League. He later played with the Flint Generals, where he scored a career high 86 points in 1984, and with the Flint Spirits. He began his coaching career when he was promoted to serve as an assistant during his final campaign with the Spirits.[1] Horachek started the 2013-14 season as head coach of the San Antonio Rampage, the Panthers top minor league affiliate. On November 8, 2013, Horachek was named the NHL Panthers interim head coach, replacing former HC Kevin Dineen. On April 29, 2014, Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon announced the team had fired Peter Horachek, who would not remain with the organization. Horachek's other coaching experience included nine years as assistant and associate coach to Barry Trotz for the Nashville Predators (2003-2013). He also had terms as the head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals, Trenton Titans, Orlando Solar Bears, Nashville Knights, and St. Thomas Wildcats. He won the Commissioner's Trophy as league champion with the Solar Bears in 2001.
