In honor of his mentor, Murtagh gave the name 'Tornac' to his gray warhorse. It is later learned that Tornac was like a father to Murtagh and is likely the only parental figure Murtagh recognized. He taught him to be a honorable person and cared for him in Urû'baen. It may be due to his influence that Murtagh became a better person than either of his parents.
