  • The Great Carpet Crash of 76
rdfs:comment
  • The crash occurred when the Sultan, looking forward to riding his racing Magic Carpet, accidentally took an unenchanted carpet from the floor of his chamber. After jumping from a high tower of Al Kharid's palace, he realised too late that he had grabbed the wrong carpet. He fell to his death, a loss that shook Al Kharid. It was because of this incident that players were not allowed to ride on Magic carpets unless their weapon hand was empty. Recently, however, players have been allowed to ride on them with a weapon once again.

abstract
  • The crash occurred when the Sultan, looking forward to riding his racing Magic Carpet, accidentally took an unenchanted carpet from the floor of his chamber. After jumping from a high tower of Al Kharid's palace, he realised too late that he had grabbed the wrong carpet. He fell to his death, a loss that shook Al Kharid. The people of the city called upon a ban on magic carpets, and although this was never written down as law, magic carpets fell from use for almost 90 years. Only in the Year 169, the current year of RuneScape, did they resurface under the direction of the famed merchant Ali Morrisane. It was because of this incident that players were not allowed to ride on Magic carpets unless their weapon hand was empty. Recently, however, players have been allowed to ride on them with a weapon once again. The carpet from the crash can be seen in a glass case upstairs in the Al Kharid palace.
