| abstract | - Karellen (Krelian in the English localization) is a major character in Xenogears. Karellen is an antagonist and it is debatable if he is the main antagonist of the game. By the time of Xenogears, Karellen is the leader of Solaris, despite that he was once Solaris' enemy, as the saying goes: "If you can't beat them, join them." Using nanomachines, technology and life extension treatment, Karellen is 534 years old. He may be biologically immortal due to his receiving of transhumanism. Despite possessing the power of immortality, he hasn't shared it with the rest of humanity (only a select few), likely because he feels humanity is undeserving of it.
