  • A roleplaying game is a game in which each player creates a persona with unique backrounds, lives, skills, ideas, and abilities and then "plays" the character out in a fantasy world created by the Dungeon Master(DM).
  • A roleplaying game (RPG) is a type of game where players assume the roles of fictional characters via improvisations. At its core, an RPG is a form of interactive and collaborative storytelling. Whereas cinema, novels and television shows are passive, RPGs engage the participants actively, allowing them to simultaneously be audience, actor, and author.
  • Roleplaying game, or “RPG”, is a game in which the players are supposed to get into the role of the characters they control, to imagine how those characters would speak and act in a given situation and play accordingly.
  • To date have been several licensed Star Trek RPG's: * FASA's Star Trek: The Role Playing Game * Last Unicorn's Star Trek: The Next Generation Roleplaying Game, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Roleplaying Game, and Star Trek Roleplaying Game * Decipher's Star Trek Roleplaying Game Each typically has a core rules set and additional volumes or products providing additional material for wider areas of interest, prominent aliens, adventure scenarios and campaigns, etc.
  • Welcome, noble adventurer, to the Lande of the Role Playing Game, or the RPG for short. Learning the Art of the RPG is a simple task for all but the most retarded of prospective adventurers, but beware of danger! Far from being peaceful Kingdoms of busty maidens and loveable comic relief sidekicks, RPG's are lands of terrible mages and foul breathed Dragons! But take heart! With nothing more than a mouse, a keyboard and one of the many RPG games available, you, an otherwise sad excuse for a human being, can become a powerful Mage-Knight in the services of the King's magnificent army!
  • A roleplaying game (or RPG) is a specific type of game, typically involving four to six participants. Participants are referred to in the general sense as "gamers." White Wolf's roleplaying games, especially those that use the Storyteller or Storytelling Systems, use the term storytelling game to distinguish their games' focus on characters and narrative.

White Wolf's roleplaying games, especially those that use the Storyteller or Storytelling Systems, use the term storytelling game to distinguish their games' focus on characters and narrative. One of the participants in a roleplaying game takes on the role of Game Master, or GM; this title changes depending on the game in question. Other titles for the GM include Dungeon Master (DM), used in Dungeons & Dragons, which serves as the origin for the term; and Storyteller, used in the Storyteller System and the Storytelling System. The role of Game Master is somewhat akin to the "banker" in games such as Monopoly, but the GM also acts as a referee and narrator for the other players. The other players each create a character using predefined rules. The GM presents the players with a scenario, and the players describe the reactions of their characters. The GM describes the results of their actions, and play proceeds back and forth in this manner.
