While he was a party to the many atrocities committed by the Feanorians, he was often more sympathetic to the victims than his brothers. He was also the only one of the seven who had no recorded death. While the others were killed in battle or, in the case of Maedhros, committed suicide, Maglor simply wandered out of the history of Middle-earth, supposedly searching for the Silmaril he threw into the Sea after it burned his hand.
- This Tale of Maglor was written by GMs and was ultimately rejected by ICE MERP, but the story is very canoncial as Galadriel stayed in middle earth for her penance, so too did Maglor. It is these qualities, perhaps, that make him a Sue-target, when he isn't being slashed with one or another of his family members. On one memorable occasion, a Sue created a doppelgänger of Maglor through bad phrasing, thus creating one of the PPC's most famous (or infamous) agents, Dafydd Illian. More recently, a character replacement of Maglor was recruited, ending up as Agent Hawthorne.

Here is what followed afterwords: The story of Maglor is one of the most tragic in all of Middle-earth, and is steeped deeply in the legends and times of the Trees of Valinor. He is the second son of the great Noldo Feanor, and is the only surviving member of Feanor's immediate descendents. After Morgoth poisoned the Two Trees of Light with the help of Ungoliant, he slayed Finwe, the High King of the Noldor and Maglor's grandfather. Then Morgoth stole the Simarils of Feanor, and fled to hide in Middle-earth. Feanor then swore a terrible Oath, which Maglor and his brothers repeated: BE HE FREIND OR FOE, OR DEMON WILD OF MORGOTH, ELF, OR MORTAL CHILD, OR ANY THAT HERE ON EARTH MAY DWELL, NO LAW, NOR LOVE, NOR LEAGUE OF HELL, NO MIGHT OF GODS, NO BINDING SPELL, SHALL HIM DEFEND FROM HATRED FELL OF FEANOR'S SONS, WHOSO TAKE OR STEAL OF FINDING KEEP A SIMARIL. THESE WE ALONE DO CLAIM BY RIGHT, OUR THRICE ENCHANTED JEWELS BRIGHT. While under the Oath of Feanor, Maglor performed many callous and cruel deeds. He was driven to fulfill that terrible promise or forever have the eternal darkness called down upon himself. There is no doubt he would have wished otherwise, but like so many Elves he seemed to be wrapped in a fate not of his own choices, but one of preordained destiney. After casting the Simaril into the ocean no one knew what became of him. Rumors of Maglor passed into the legends of the First Age. Being immortal, Elves do not die unless slain by hand or grief. Maglor was unwilling to take his own life. He had achieved some peace of mind by the year 1000 S.A. Not knowing what else to do, he decided to return to Valinor and ask the forgiveness of the Powers of Arda. He set out from the Haven of Edhellond in the year S.A. 1078, with a crew of 30 in a White Elven ship. Coasting northwesterly, the vessel was seized by the same hurricane that devastated the Numenorean port of Vinyalonde. Maglor and his hapless companions were swept to the north far off course. Their ship was dashed to pieces on the reefs of Tol Himring. They were convinced this was a storm inspired by Osse. Three of the crew perished in the shipwreck. Twenty-seven Elves including Maglor were cast up on the beach inside the lagoon. The White Elven ship was a complete loss. They were stranded with little hope of rescue. In the wake of the storm an event of greater significance occurred. The was caused by Osse, for the Maia spirit materialized and appeared to the survivors. Osse called Maglor forth for speech and council. The Bard responded to this summons and learned what fate he and the other Elves must carry out upon this isolated island. Morgoth had an extremely hard time of corrupting Elves. But Men were much easier--still Morgoth succeeded in corrupting some Elves these souls were changed to the point where they were beyond Eru's thought. They were made void in the mind of Iluvatar, and must wander in this world until such a time as their remaking occurs, ever suffering death yet never able to flee into death's halls. They are demonic slaves twisted to the will of Melkor-Morgoth. They are called the Iaraughoth (S. "The Void Demonhost"). Exactly how the corrupted spirits of these Elves came to be placed in the Caves of Despair is unknown. Little for certain is known about the Last Battle before the gates of Thangorodrim. The entire conduct of the War of Wrath was never fully revealed by the Wise. It takes considerable resources to control them and keep these demons from breaking loose onto an unsuspecting and unprepared Middle-earth. Maglor now had a chance to serve the Light and repent. He is the warden and the de-facto head of state on Tol Himring but leaves most of the day to day affairs to the Council of Elders and the people. He spends most of his time at Barad Maedhros. He will patrol with a group occasionally. The four Iaraughoth leaders are among the darkest and most malevolent personages of the First Age. These are Elven spirits that either perpetrated atrocious acts against their brethren or performed some heinous acts in the service of Morgoth. They choose this fate by their own actions and to some extent, their own free will. Among these evil spirits are Eol, Maeglin, Saeros, and Celebanor (S. "Silverfire") Feanor's bodyguard. In short, Maglor is the jailor and warden of these evil spirits and watches over them with a host of warriors. Cirdan knows of his penance and drops supplies to the people of the Lost Isles, but Maglor usually never leaves the island. Serving as a jailor for these spirtis is his penance.
