| Synopsis | - A squad of Wingmen, the Thanagarian police force, arrive on the scene of a hostage situation. Two of them make their way inside using stealth and kill the man with the gun. Katar Hol, finds a false wall, tears it down and discovers an illegal arms cache.
Katar Hol returns home and then attends a dinner party with his father, where his father tries to set him up with a friend's daughter, Shayera Thal. Katar tries to educate Shayera in the history of Thanagar, but she is more interested in flirting and belittling the alien servants at the party.
The next day, Katar goes out on patrol. He and his partner are beset by aliens wielding guns. Katar's partner is killed in the firefight.
Katar, Shayera and her father go on a hunting trip. After Shayera wounds one of the ape-like animals, Katar tracks it back to its cave, where he discovers cave paintings, indicating that it is a thinking animal. He turns and leaves.
