abstract | - Using WIKI with Comm Wikipedia to the Communication world is usally just a disaster. It is filled with a bunch of people that edit things and change up stuff just to be funny about it. Most journalist or broadcaster's would say that Wikipedia is not any good or really cant support it's evidence but I personally think it can. Let's be real most of the stuff on here that get's changed is just things like the Pleade of Alligance and the Star Spangeled Banner, it's just kids as ourselves having fun. As a broadcaster or journalist you always want to have that extra edge, that one step ahead, be at the right place at the right time. Well with Wikipedia a lot of the major stuff such as; things with the President, sport's athletes, tragidies and things of this sort are changed almost at that time someone is on the ball changing it. This as a journalist or even a radio announcer, I can use this at times maybe doing play-by-play and need some good quick facts. All i have to do is pull up Wikipedia and I have it all there at the touch of a button. This will help me kill dead air on the radio because I now have alot more information at my finger tips. Pronounciation Tips A major role that Wikipedia plays in my life is learning the pronounciation of names and words. Most WIKI sites withh have a little volume button next to the name or word and it will say the name for you so you can actually hear the correct sound of it. Nobody like's to hear the wrong pronounciation of names or places. Rick Perry visited Tarleton July 16,th 2012 and pronounced Tarleton wrong. He stressed way to much on the "a" and it did not sound good. Now maybe if he used Wikipedia or had common sense he wouldn't of sounded worng Using it for yourself Wikipedia is a source for everyone to use, im using it right now for a class assignment and im making a page for the whole world to read. Now as a Communication major just think of that, create a page for everyone to see and read. There have been people that have been given jobs over Wikipedia and people having good stories on it or keeping up with people on it. I feel that I can use it to write to people, give them something to read, and speak my message across the globe to billions of people. This could be the start of an aspiring journalist to just jot down stories and get their writing, reading, and speaking messages across to people the technological way.
