| abstract | - Born as Reuben Aaron Leder in New York City, New York, USA, he is the brother of director and producer Mimi Leder who is married to actor Gary Werntz. His father Paul Leder was a director, writer and producer and his sister Geraldine Leder is working in the casting department. Leder started to work in the film industry on the 1972 horror film Poor Albert and Little Annie, directed by his father. In 1976 he co-wrote with his father the science fiction film Ape on which he also worked as associate producer and in the sound department. Rod Arrants starred in this film. Throughout the following years he wrote episodes for The Incredible Hulk (1981), Tales of the Gold Monkey (1982), Magnum, P.I. (1981-1986) on which he also worked as producer, creative consultant and story editor, Baywatch (1994), JAG (1995), Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1995-1997), Nash Bridges (1998), Walker, Texas Ranger (2000), and Seven Days (2000). Other writing credits include the drama The Chinese Caper (1978), the science fiction film Badlands 2005 (1988, with Miguel Ferrer), the thriller Frame Up (1991, with Robert Picardo), the television movie The Rockford Files: If It Bleeds... It Leads (1999, with Denise Crosby), and the thriller Baltic Storm (2003) which he also directed. Leder received two Emmy Award nominations in the category Outstanding Drama Series for his work on the television series Magnum, P.I. in 1983 and 1984.
