Hendrix's debut came in 1959, when he competed at Atlanta. Starting 12th in the field of twenty-one, Hendrix crashed out of the race late and finished 15th. But Hendrix quickly recovered from that, finishing 9th in his next start down at Columbia. Hendrix, on the momentum, captured the pole for a later Atlanta race that year, and ran well to a 13th place finish.

Hendrix's debut came in 1959, when he competed at Atlanta. Starting 12th in the field of twenty-one, Hendrix crashed out of the race late and finished 15th. But Hendrix quickly recovered from that, finishing 9th in his next start down at Columbia. Hendrix, on the momentum, captured the pole for a later Atlanta race that year, and ran well to a 13th place finish. Hendrix's next two races came during the 1961, when he competed at Atlanta. It was a tough stop though for the driver, having his engine disassemble late in the race and dumping him to a 27th place finish. Still, Hendrix again salvaged early season bad luck to produce a top-ten, as he roared to a 10th place finish later in the year at Charlotte. Hendrix's final career finish came during the 1962, when he competed at North Wilkesboro. He ended his career on a high note, completing all but twenty-one laps to record a solid 13th place finish. On 13 April 1963, Hendrix was racing at the speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee when he lost control of his car on a curve and crashed into the fence. Hendrix was killed as a result
