Dominic was once arrested in the '40s as a suspected participant in a fencing operation along with several other members of the Detroit Partnership but once again he avoided trial and conviction when the charges against him were dropped. Dominic Licavoli married the daughter of Joe Zerilli further solidifying the bond between the Licavoli, Zerilli and Tocco families. Dominic got into his first real scrape with the law when he along with Sam Finazzo were indicted on April 9, 1975 on charges of attempting to bribe an official working for the Small Business Association. Licavoli and Finazzo avoided trial for 8 years by pleading illness and infirmity. Finally convicted and sentenced to a term of 3 years in prison on August 10, 1983 Licavoli was ordered to turn himself into authorities by September 1, 1983. The 62 year old cancer stricken Licavoli was sent to serve his sentence at Federal Prison at Lexington Kentucky. After his release from prison in 1987, Dominic retired and built up his relationship with brother Angelo. He died in 1996. He died in 1996 of natural causes.
