Rakatans regained their natural Force-sensitivity during the early days of the Empire through genetic manipulation of genes, and started building up a military. Their preparations took many years to complete, but afterwards, they began the invasion of the galaxy known as the Rakatan Expansion War. They managed to even rebuild the Star Forge using old technology and schematics obtained from the former Infinite Empire's vaults. At the time, the Imperial Remnant was small, while the Galactic Alliance was unstable, still recovering from internal strife caused by the Lost Tribe of Sith and Abeloth. The Empire used it as the time to invade.
