  • Verax is the top gladiator of the Trinivii Kajidic on Nar Kresh, a title he’s held for decades. A skilled warrior and tough to kill to boot, Verax has survived and thrived in the arenas ever since the Trinivii sent him to the planet to fight for them. Originally a slave, Verax long ago earned his freedom but chose to stay on Nar Kresh because of how much he enjoyed fighting in the arenas. No other Trinivii gladiator has been able to defeat him to take his title away. Although not without his share of defeats at the hands of rival kajidic gladiators, such victories tend to be rare. Verax remains a favorite with the spectators since he has a knack for knowing how to make matches as thrilling as possible. Most notably, he has a longtime rivalry with the champion of the Direj Kajidic, a Devaronian known as Asael. Since matches between the two tend to be some of the most talked about (and heavily betted upon), the Hutts have kept the rivalry going rather than give the okay for one to kill the other. Once Verax began to grow in popularity, the leader of the Trinivii Kajidic, Mortrassa, decreed that the Tarc be fitted with a vocoder which automatically translated everything Verax said into Basic (Huttese was considered but rejected since Basic would net more fans). This was necessary since the Tarc as a species lack the proper physiology to speak Basic. The vocoder is permanently integrated in Verax’s throat and has sensors that monitor his brain impulses to automatically raise or lower the volume of the vocoder as Verax intends. For reasons unknown, Verax has a habit of referring to himself in the third person. This has a tendency to cause those who don't know him to underestimate his intelligence.
