Connors' next race came in 1969, when he returned to Daytona for the July 400-miler. Starting 39th in the field of forty, Connors only improved to 33rd in the race due to an engine failure. Connors' final career effort came in 1970, when he made his first trip to Darlington. Starting 30th in the field of thirty-six, Connors lost his engine halfway through the race but still managed to place 24th.
