It is popular amongst criminals, most notably Trandoshan mercenary groups. These guns are not all that advanced and have built-in extinguishers in case of overheating. They are capable of cutting through shields with ease, but are relatively ineffective against battle droids and other armored surfaces. Each particle ammunition cartridge consists of forty small particle charges that are the source of energy for the accelerated particle shots the gun fires. Upon activation, each particle charge has enough power to fuel one shot. After a particle charge has been fired the empty shell of that charge is ejected out the top of the gun; this cycle continues until the entire ammo cartridge runs out or when the holder takes their finger off the trigger. It seems that the weapon also uses some kind of tracer-ammunition as the accelerated-charged-particles cannot be seen when fired. However, the ACP Heavy Repeater, a more powerful variant, fires bigger and more energized rounds which can be seen without additional tracer-ammunition.
