  • Aliya Whiteley is a novel and short story writer. She was born in Ilfracombe, Devon, in 1974. She currently lives in Buckinghamshire with her husband and daughter. Her novella, Mean Mode Median, was published by small Portishead-based press Bluechrome in 2004. Her first novel, Three Things About Me, was published by the controversial imprint Macmillan New Writing in April 2006. Her second novel, Light Reading, was also published by Macmillan New Writing in February 2007. A mass market paperback will published by Pan Macmillan in April 2009. Her novels are dark and comic in tone, and often employ many first person viewpoints. In 2004 she was shortlisted in the Guardian Short Short Story competition. In 2007 she was first runner-up in McSweeney's 13 Writing Prompts competition. Aliya Whiteley keeps a blog with writer Neil Ayres[1]. She has a website that is maintained by website design and music production company Slicklix.[2].
