  • On a Starfleet vessel of any kind, the chain of command in the engineering department tended to be simple with smaller teams broken apart from the whole. A chief engineer lead the entire engineering team, often delegating tasks to smaller teams formed within the whole. Because the operations of a starship, starbase, or space station were so complex, the engineering department ran routine maintenance on all ship systems. Tests were performed regularly through main engineering, which was the hub of activity for the entire department. From main engineering, all ship functions could be monitored and checked for any abnormalities. (TNG: "Hollow Pursuits" ; DS9: "Starship Down"; VOY: "Parallax")

  • With the rise of technology in the world of Warcraft, tinkers are becoming common among almost all factions and races. A rarer breed, however, are the geniuses among the tinkers who focus their intelligence on a particular type of technology and can lead impossibly ambitious projects that turn fantasy into reality. The earliest of these prodigies developed the phlogiston-powered boilers that allowed the goblins to replace their scout balloons with enormous zeppelins, and the Horde to take its ironclad juggernauts to sea. They named themselves after their work, and those who have followed in their footsteps honor them by taking that title for their own.

  • The job of engineer was most commonly held by Onu-Matoran, though other types of Matoran were also known to be engineers. One of the most famous examples of engineer, Nuparu, lived on Metru Nui prior to the Great Cataclysm. Among his earliest major inventions was the robotic Kralhi, created as law enforcement sentries; these proved ineffective, however, and were eventually replaced by Nuparu's next attempt at robotic law enforcement, the Vahki.
  • Dwarvish Engineers are greatly sought after in nearly all parts of the Old World, for they alone have the skill to create the mechanical marvels of the age. The Dwarven Engineer's Guild is a powerful but very secretive body; its structure, rules, and the bizarre and sometimes distasteful rituals it employs are founded on centuries of tradition. It has a deep distrust of innovation and invention - if anything had been worthwhile, they maintain, the Guild would have tried it centuries ago. Because of this and because of the tight control which the Guild maintains over its members, it is not unusual for imaginative and inventive young Dwarfs to leave or be expelled from the Guild and seek employment and patronage outside it. The technical term for these individuals, for historical reasons, is
  • Don't Release The Singularity! The engineer has the annoying job of making sure absolutely everything is running correctly or you can just dick around with the doors and piss off the crew when all you do is fuck around with their machines. And that's ok, because there are probably more engineers DOING THEIR JOB!!! If you are one of those rare kinds who like to do their job, I will give you some of the basics 1. Replacing lights If their are broken lights it is one of your duties to replace them. Because the Janitor is part of the Syndicate, he won't be helping much if ever. 2. Fixing breaches
  • The Engineer class is one of the playable kits featured in every major installment of the Battlefield Series. It is usually intended to repair friendly vehicles and combat enemy vehicles. • The Engineer is immortal as well because he obtained a Nether Star after killing Death himself. Nowadays, he is a mega troll douche in the world of Minecraftia building TNT projects.
  • Engineers are soldiers that focus on the use of heavy weapons such as , and explosives such as frag grenades and claymores.
  • This amiable, soft-spoken good ol' boy from tiny Bee Cave, Texas loves barbecues, guns, and higher education. Natural curiosity, ten years as a roughneck in the west Texas oilfields, and eleven hard science PhDs have trained him to design, build and repair a variety of deadly contraptions.
  • An engineer is any person who operates a studio for the purposes of recording or broadcasting audio.
  • The Engineer is a unit capable of capturing enemy buildings or repairing friendly buildings. Repairing a friendly building kills the engineer, and instantly restores all of the building's health. Capturing an enemy building does not kill the engineer, but takes a long time. The engineer is not to be confused with the Mechanic.
  • The Engineer is a unit used to capture buildings and collect Souls and take them back to an Incubator.
  • In Garry's Mod, He is one of the thousands of crazy and wacky characters in the mod along with the other classes. He is usually a lot smarter than most other characters in the video he is used in. There are many different versions of Engineer, but the most known (the Red and the Blue) are as follows:
  • The Engineer class is one of the playable kits featured in every major installment of the Battlefield Series. It is usually intended to repair friendly vehicles and combat enemy vehicles. They are armed differently in each installment but are typically most effective at close to mid range with shotguns and carbines, the exception being the rifle-armed engineer of Battlefield 1942. They often use either anti-tank mines or anti-tank rocket/missile launchers for anti-armor purposes, and a repair tool, blowtorch, or wrench to repair their vehicles. Battlefield 1943's Infantry and Battlefield Hardline's Mechanic kits fulfill the same role as the engineer.
The technical term for these individuals, for historical reasons, is 'wetbacks', although it is unwise to call them this to their faces. Wetbacks can be found working for a number of wealthy patrons in the Old World and the Guild is increasingly worried about the steady undermining of its position and authority. Guild members and wetbacks rarely treat each other with anything but hostility. * Carpentry * Drive Cart * Engineering * Read/Write * Secret Signs: Dwarven Engineer's Guild * Set Trap * Smithing * Spot Trap * 50% chance of Metallurgy * Hand Weapon * Leather Jack * Tool bag * D4 hammers and D6x10 nails * D4 cold chisels * Pick * Saw * D6 iron spikes * Tongs * Pliers * Heavy wire (10 yards) * Hand Axe * Ring with concealed Guild symbol (unless wetback) * Alchemist's Apprentice * Artillerist * Artisan (Carpenter or Stonemason) * Dwarf Pilot (Dwarfs only) * Gunner * Master Engineer (Dwarfs only) * Sapper * Tunnel Fighter
  • The Engineer drove the train to Oslo carrying Global Peace Prize recipiant Dr. Alex Miller and Jessica Wray. However, Prime Evil sent Apparitia to take over the train. She scared the engineer enough to force him to leave his post. He managed to inform the Ghostbusters, who had recently boarded the train, before he hid inside somebody's suitcase. Later on, the Engineer found another hiding place in a trunk in his engine room.
An engineer chooses a particular type of technological device in which to specialize (e.g., steam armor, zeppelins, siege weapons, traps). Later, as he becomes more experienced, an engineer selects a second and third field of specialization. However, as an engineer focuses his tinkering genius, his more general mechanical abilities suffer. Engineers understand the process of mechanical creation so well that they can organize the efforts of tinkers in order to create larger or more complex devices together than they could individually. An engineer gains the ability to lead group projects with efficiency. His knowledge determines the technological limits of any device construction project he leads. In addition, as long as he supervises and participates in the construction of the device, it is completed before the progress is greater than the item’s market value. The engineer must supervise and make weekly progress on the project, or he is no longer considered to be leading the project and completion reverts to the normal standard where costs may exceed market value. Engineers learn how to draw plans that allow devices they’ve built to be recreated more easily. If an engineer has been personally involved in the creation of a device, at any time after the device’s completion an engineering can check over his craft. Success on this check allows the creation of schematics that may be passed along to other tinkers. Use of these schematics makes it easier for those involved in constructing a copy of the original device. Engineers do not make use of their own schematics. An experienced engineer has such rapport with technology that his devices are less likely to malfunction under his watchful eye.M&M 41-42 Image:WoW Icon 16x16.gif In World of Warcraft, one who has the engineering profession is an engineer.
  • Engineers are college-educated women who operate advanced machinery, develop applications for scientific and mathematical theory, and basically solve the practical problems of modern life. The higher an engineer's skill, the better the overall production is where they work and the more electricity they can produce in power plants. Engineers work in oil wells, oil refineries, telecom HQs, airports, aerodromes, and power plants.
  • Engineers are the driving force of research and development in the galaxy by designing ships, modifying ships, and repairing ships. They are behind the speed of the Falcon and the firepower of the Death Star, the economy of the TIE and the poor stability of AT-ATs. We remind you to do your materials testing well, lest your walking metal monstrosities' armor fail against falling logs. SPECIALIST: This is a specialist class, and may only be taken when you have achieved an initial level of expertise in your technical understandings of maintenance and repair.
  • The Engineer, also known as the betrayed one, is an ancient spirit. In Divinity II: Flames of Vengeance he is summoned by a pair of monks, Abbott and Charles, in an effort to recover an extremely rare tome of sorcery. When freed, the Engineer possessed the body of Charles and initiated the plague of walking dead that threatens the city of Aleroth. The Engineer is assisted by a troll named Skulk, who calls him, "the greatest intellect in Rivellon." He cannot be mindread. For the Dead Rising and Nericon's Wrath, the Dragon Knight is tasked with finding and ending the source of the undead - The Engineer. When he is confronted in Source Square, pull the four levers in the district before attacking him. When killed, a chest spawns nearby that contains the Engineer's Sword for Clue IV of the plot quest To Find a Wizard. Killing him also rewards the "Sharp as a Steel Trap" achievement.
  • Engineer is a zombie in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. He is one of the four playable zombies on the Zombies faction (7 in Garden Warfare 2) and serves a similar role to the Cactus plants, however, in fact he serves as a support class since he is able to construct useable turrets like the Zombot Drone and stunning abilities like Sonic Grenade or Proximity Sonic Mine, which also forces Chompers to uproot, as well as a Jackhammer or Turbo Jackhammer to ride around on. He can also build teleporters and Zombot Turrets in Gardens & Graveyards. In Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, the Engineer's Zombot Drone has been replaced with the Big Bolt Blaster, since the Zombot Drone itself has been replaced by the Parrot Pal ability of Captain Deadbeard.
  • The Engineer is a class from the FPS game Team Fortress 2, and the final moveset from MYM veteran Sonic the Baron.
  • Engineer is a skill available to players and NPCs. Ranks in this skill reduce the construction times and costs by about 5% per rank. As a party skill, if both your character and one of your companions have 10 ranks, you can have a maximum effective party skill level of 14 engineering, worth a 70% reduction in the construction costs.
  • Engineer is a boss within Breath of Fire III.
  • The Engineer class is a class type in Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad.
  • Six months after the Anti-bending Revolution, the engineer awaited his boss, Asami Sato, as she landed Future Industries' latest product, the commercial biplane. Despite Asami's excitement and belief that the planes were now ready to ship, the engineer had concerns about the future of the company. He expressed his fears of an imminent bankruptcy, since no company was willing to work with them due to Hiroshi Sato's incarceration for allying himself with the Equalists. However, he was told by Asami not to fear, as she planned to travel to the Southern Water Tribe to meet with Varrick, who could restore Future Industries to its former state of success. After Harmonic Convergence, the engineer was employed by Asami to steer a Future Industries airship during Team Avatar's journey to rebuild the Air Nation.
  • The Engineer can be seen as the weakest direct combat class as they have no combat ability, such as a jetpack, self-healing, overshield or cloak. However they make up for this in utility, as the Engineer has access to the most items in a single loadout. The Engineer can resupply allies with ammo, fix vehicles and MAX units, lay down a variety of turrets and place Tank Mines, Anti-Peronnel Mines and C4. The three turrets available for the Engineer are: * The default Anti-Infantry MANA Turret. This manned turret is completely accurate on it's first shot but quickly becomes inaccurate over sustained fire (making it ineffective at long range without bursting). Instead of having ammunition, the MANA Turret has infinite ammunition and a heat mechanic - firing will heat the weapon and overheating the weapon will disable the turret for a few seconds (Note: EMP Grenades will also overheat the turret). The turret has a forward-facing shield that is completely immune to all forms of damage. To destroy the turret, damage has to impact the turret itself, making a frontal assault very ineffective. While inside the turret, an Engineer is vulnerable to grenades, flanking and enemy snipers. The turret can be used as deployable cover, allowing the shield to soak enemy bullets while the Engineer shoots over it. Upgrading this turret will increase the maximum heat capacity. Only the owner of the turret can enter it. * The Anti-Vehicle MANA Turret 1000 File:Icon resource certpoints 25x25.png. This manned turret shoots a single powerful rocket that will follow the cursor. This allows for precision shots onto enemy vehicles at long range. This turret has no shield and can be destroyed from any angle, making the Engineer very vulnerable whilst inside the turret. The turret can also be used as deployable cover but is less effective than the default turret. Upgrading the AV turret will decrease the time in between shots. Only the owner of the turret can enter it. * The Spitfire Auto-Turret 1000 File:Icon resource certpoints 25x25.png. This unmanned turret is very weak in both firepower and health. It can be destroyed by 10-15 bullets from any gun, a single rocket or 2 bolt action sniper rounds. An Engineer can only carry 1 of these at a time and must resupply at a terminal to get another. (Note: The MANA turrets can be deployed and redeployed infinitely many times.) The turret will fire at any enemy it sees in a 50m radius, is very accurate but has a slow rate of fire. It will beep before opening fire. The Spitfire will not survive on its own against any opponent, however it can be used effectively as supplementary fire or as a warning system. While you and an enemy are shooting each other, the turret will act as supplementary damage, potentially turning the tide against your opponent. The Spitfire will not survive if targeted by an opponent, but is a low priority target, and so it excels wherever enemies are distracted or have too many other things to shoot at. The Spitfire cannot be upgraded. The Ammo Pack can be upgraded to have a larger effective radius and to last longer on the field. At rank 5, the Engineer can place 2 at a time. The Repair Tool can be upgraded to repair faster and to last longer before overheating. The Engineer is the only class with access to the Sticky Grenade 100File:Icon resource certpoints 25x25.png. This grenade is identical to the Frag Grenade except that it will stick to almost every surface and to enemies. Because of this, it is far more controllable than the standard Frag. It is considered to be an upgrade to the default grenade, as it's only downside is that it cannot be bounced around corners.
  • The Engineer is a playable character.
  • The Engineer makes use of powerful weaponry as well as a variety of drones and bots, working in tandem to defeat his enemies. Like the Marksman, first person perspective can be easier to fight in, though third person perspective is also possible. The engineer's drone is a modifiable "pet" which retains armor, weapons, and it's own set of hit points.
  • An engineer is a professional practitioner of engineering, concerned with applying scientific knowledge, mathematics and ingenuity to develop solutions for technical problems. Adam Brody is an engineer. (SGU: "Water")
  • The Engineer had several unique moves: The Engineer casually approaches his target, before grabbing them by the back of their head with one hand and pushing the sharp points of his compass through the soft flesh underneath the jaw and the inside of their skull, piercing their brain. He then removes his compass and stores it back into a pocket on his satchel, while his victim's dead body falls to the floor. The Engineer walks up to target from behind and kicks their legs out from underneath them, so that they fall to their knees. He then grabs his compass by its handle and stabs them one-handedly in the top of their head, puncturing the brain, while keeping them steady by holding their shoulder with his other hand. Removing his grip on his victim, he lets their body fall forward to the ground, while blood spurts out of their wound. The Engineer quickly comes up from behind and grabs the back of his target's waist, before forcefully pulling them backwards and stepping forward himself. With his compass in his hand and the momentum of his pull, he jams his weapon into their back, impaling one of their kidneys on the compass' sharp points. Letting go of his victim, the Engineer conceals his weapon while he watches them collapse to the ground, where they would bleed to death internally. The Engineer walks up to his target from the front and reaches around their head, grabbing them by the scruff of the neck. He then yanks their head downward and delivers a quick but fatal stab to the crevice of the shoulder blades, before letting go and watching his victim fall forward to their demise. The Engineer walks up to his seated target and grabs the side of their head with one of his hands. He then takes his compass in his free hand and forcefully thrusts it into their neck, piercing their jugular, before pulling his weapon away and concealing it, as his victim's dead body slides from the bench. The Engineer jumps from above a rooftop onto his target and pulls out his compass, before brutally stabbing them in the back of their head. Leaving his victim to die from the wounds he had inflicted, the Engineer stands up and stores his compass back into his satchel.
  • Engineers are a special unit available late in several Civ games.
His second-most famous invention would be created centuries later, on the island of Mata Nui: During the Bohrok War, Nuparu invented the Boxor out of Bohrok parts, allowing Matoran to strike back against the Bohrok swarms. Another engineer by the name of Velika lived on Voya Nui, and was responsible for creating the Zamor Launchers used by the Toa Inika, upgrading launchers stolen from the Piraka to carry four Zamor spheres instead of one to give them an advantage over the band of Skakdi. A Le-Matoran engineer was known to have lived in the underwater village of Mahri Nui, who tried to harness the Hydruka's natural ability to shoot Solidified Air Bubbles and use it as a faster means of water travel than swimming. It was unsuccessful, but the engineer had no opportunity to fix his invention's flaws, as he happened to be in his own invention when it was launched into a nearby Tarakava and was promptly killed. Though it proved a failure, the invention was repurposed as a weapon for the Matoran to use against hostile water-breathers.
  • The Engineer is your multi-purpose Defense and Support class. With the ability to repair vehicles and deployables, build defensive deployables as well as construct mission critical objectives, GDF: Engineers are vital in the battlefield.
  • Very little is known about the class of the engineer at this time as they were not playable during the various beta phases. However it is assumed that they will utilize technology and serve primarily as craftspeople. Notable Human Engineers are Bulma.
  • There are several non specialized Engineers aboard of each vessel, as needed.
  • Engineers are the miracle workers aboard a starship. Their main concern is the Warp Core, the power center of the ship. They make sure all systems and equipment are working in standard order. They also act as another scientist aboard ship with more technical background about machines, computers, and other technology. The engineer may also have background in navigation.
Image:Cidpollendina.jpg
  • Engineers are important members of their team, using their repair tool to make ammo boxes for their team, and building turrets to kill enemies and block areas, while using their machine guns to mow down any enemies they encounter. Engineer's are most important in objective based game modes where their turrets allow them to easily hold off enemies, or depending on their ability level hack and take control of enemy turrets.

  • File:Quake Wars.png The Engineer is a support/defense class, constructing and repairing vehicles, deployables, and objectives (such as bridges and machinery). He also deploys and maintains defense turrets, such as the Anti-Personnel, Anti-Missile and Anti-Vehicle deployables. The Engineer carries the N22 Shotgun or the Assault riffle which can be later upgraded to the Grenade Launcher and multi-purpose mines. * N80 Assault Rifle * N22 Shotgun * N80 Grenade Launcher
  • Engineer is a Trainer Class introduced in Generation I. Their attire is similar to that of a construction worker's. Engineers specialize in using Electric-type Pokémon.
  • It is also available with item level 87 from Origin Crisis content. __TOC__
  • An engineer is someone who practices the profession of engineering – a person who uses scientific knowledge to solve practical problems using technology.
  • The Dwarven Black Guard's resources on Ice Mountain, despite the area's connection via mine cart to Keldagrim, have always been relatively thin. The cannon's maintenance is therefore critical to the mine's defence, making the engineer's job extremely important.
  • Engineers are known to have underdeveloped hindquarters, although zoologists are still uncertain whether this is a genetic adaptation to their habitat or simply atrophy from lack of use. Engineers have whiffly noses which are highly attuned to the smell of approaching carnivorous deadlines. Engineers are easily house-trained and make great pets, but don't expect them to play with your children, unless your children are made of wires. They suffer from hunch backs due to the many hours spent in cubicles. Engineers are a strange specimen who ensure your roof does not fall on your head, they do this by ensuring any structural stability is promptly removed. Their favourite way of doing this is by destroying any supporting members in a building, usually with an axe or dead beaver.

  • Description: The engineer is a specialist in energy management. In peace time, he maximizes the efficiency of energy networks of colonies. Advantages: +5% Energy per level. Max levels: 10 Minimal Requirement: Geologist (level 5)
  • The Engineer can also plant or defuse landmines in strategic locations.
  • The Engineer, whose full name is Dell Conagher, is a very flexible class. While his primary goal is to defend the main base, he also features limited offensive capabilities.
  • An engineer helps ensure a starship or space station's systems are running optimally and correctly. An engineer can be responsible for hardware, software or other areas. This includes maintenance, systems checks, improvements and upgrades. On Starfleet vessels, the chief engineer usually bears responsibility for the ship's other engineers, with several teams responsible for different areas. The main area responsible for engineering on a starship is main engineering. Starfleet starbases, space stations and other outposts usually have a chief of operations bearing responsibility for this, with the main engineering hub usually being the operations center. "Engineer" is used as a title for engineers who are enlisted personnel as an alternative to "Crewman" (e.g., "Engineer Smith"). (Star Trek: Outpost, Deep Space 9, et al.) On the USS Mumbai in the 23rd century enlisted engineers were referred to as "mechanic", with "engineer" used only for officers. (TOSS) Areas and equipment engineers could be responsible for include, but are not limited to: * warp drive; * databases; * software; * computer core; * computer processors and circuitry; * holographic emitters and equipment; * tractor beam machinery; * transporters and their components; * sensors, probes, satellites; * offensive and defensive equipment, such as phaser arrays and shields; * hull plating; * environmental systems, life support and gravity control; * deflector array; and * communications array and equipment. In the Federation Starfleet, engineers are usually members of the operations division. Some engineers are members of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers. In the Lyran Starfleet and in Stone Trek, engineers formed their own division. (Stone Trek, Star Trek: The Stoneship Files)
  • Engineer is a man stationed on the HMS Sparrowhawk.
  • The Engineer is an unnamed character in Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, he was one the few engineers left to live while Red Section were trying to collect data on Dark Mirror.
  • The Engineer is a character from Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. The Engineer is an expert with explosives, and he generally stays on the ship in his own quarters working on his experiments. When the Pirate Hideaway is raided by Barkle, the Engineer takes refuge in a closet and is eventually coaxed out by Tingle after he calls him three times. When this happens, the Engineer gives Tingle the recipe to create Tingle Bombs. : Non-canonical information ends here.
  • The Engineer is a class available to Ghost Recon operators in the near future and carries the intelligence role.
First of all find a replacement light bulb. Found in the Janitors room and somewhere in engineering. Once you actually obtain a lightbulb, find out where the lightbulb is. Click on it with an empty hand and you will remove the DEFINATELY ruined lightbulb. Definately not so people can't see you hacking. Now simply click with the lightbulb that isn't broken on the light fixture. Congratulations! You are now competant. Do you need to fix the frame? First put cables in, second screwdriver and finally put a light in 2. Fixing breaches Is there only a grate where there should be a wall? Easy fix! (CAUTION! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SPACE SUIT ON! PRESSURE AND OXYGEN WILL DESTROY YOU!) Get two metal sheets and click on the grate, fixed! What if the wall is completely gone? (Continue later) 3. Hacking Only ever do this if absolutely necessary. IE If the people inside are dying and you have no access whatsoever (And breaking the wall isn't an option) Make sure you're wearing god damn insulated gloves. You're obviously one of the incompetant staff if you're hacki... a hero if you're hacking so try to be at least useful at what you're uselessly accomplishing. You have your glvoes on great! Now just follow the rest of these instructions! Go to the chapel room. Turn off all the nights. Use a screwdriver on the door to expose the wires. Now, cut wires one by one very slowly so you can spot when the bolts drop. When you do cut the bolts at the bottom it will say "The bolts have fallen!" remember that wire for the rest of the round. It will always be the bolts. Now go to a door you need to hack (Need being keyword), screwdriver it open, and cut absolutely all the wires except for the bolts. Now pry it open with crowbar. You can now steal the captai... save the captain.

An experienced engineer has such rapport with technology that his devices are less likely to malfunction under his watchful eye. In World of Warcraft, one who has the engineering profession is an engineer.

  • The Engineer is a tech specialist, able to quickly and easily manipulate the environment with specific talents, and repair or modify technical equipment. Gameplay focus is on shaping the battlefield during combat, healing the party, and debuffing enemies (disabling weapons and lowering shields). Even though they begin the game with only pistols and an omni-tool, Engineers can unlock the ability to hack enemy technology. Engineers possess all tech abilities, but can only equip light armor and may gain specialist training with pistols as well. They possess no biotic skills. Tech skills focus on crippling and damaging the enemy; tech proximity mine damage is, admittedly, often viewed as a secondary effect, but should not be discounted. Engineers also possess the First Aid and Medicine talents, making their healing very effective. The Engineer class talent reduces recharge time for tech talents and increases tech protection.

(TNG: "Hollow Pursuits" ; DS9: "Starship Down"; VOY: "Parallax") John B. Watkins held the rank of Engineer, Grade 4 in 2268. (TOS: "That Which Survives" ) Major logistical tasks were addressed by the Starfleet Corps of Engineers.
