  • The CORE and humanity were once joint forces as the benevolent governing body of the universe. It was because of the CORE's effort that humanity had managed to colonise many planets and establish stable economies at the rate that they did, allowing humans to enter an age of prosperity; During this wonderous age, the CORE made a technological breakthrough which allowed the human conciousness to be transferred safely and efficiently into an artificial matrix, thus supposedly granting indefinite life to a human, a process which they dubbed 'patterning'. The CORE thought the patterning process would assure the safety of the human race, and as a public health measure, made the process mandatory.

  • This message is my map, and this map is my message. The earth here is thin. I move about it so freely, and the ease of it is a delicious thing, but it is also frightful. I dig my inscriptions by feel and touch, and because I know the earth, I know that this will be massive for your senses. We hear her soft whimpers at night when we try to sleep, and it pains us. The core of fire at her heart is our resting place, and now it is plagued by the agonized wails of the planet. She hid her grief and pain from us, but the noise was too great for us to sleep. You have made us restless.

These muscles work together to control spinal position, which normally means keeping the spine rigid during work that involves force generated by the hips and legs and transferred through the trunk to a resistance at the hands, or in the specific training situation created by the squat, on the back or shoulders. The core muscles maintain the intervertebral relationships that allow the spine to both transfer force and remain uninjured in the process. They are extremely imp

  • Talon's upset. I feel horrible, watching her beg for mercy from Gar, and I can make out what she's saying... "I thought I'd find her. To teach her a lesson." Gar still doesn't look pleased, but his eyes are not the typical harsh amber orbs. He doesn't respond. She keeps begging him for sparing her, and I realize slowly that I don't want her dead at all. She's not the friendliest bird, but she's probably the least worse of all of them. I suddenly remember the machine she managed to insert inside of me, and I glance over at Falconpaw. She looks terrified, and she presses herself against my side.

  • In theory, every protein should an inside, or core, and an outside, or surface. Most of the hydrophobic segments should be buried in the core. Most of the hydrophilic segments should be exposed on the surface. In practice, real proteins may not follow these rules 100%. The idea is that proteins at least start out inside cells, and cells are full of water molecules. The hydrophilic amino acids can stand up to the water molecules, but the hydrophobics need to be protected. The core exists filter was explained in more detail in a Foldit blog post by bkoep, which states:
  • The Core is the 'torso' of the mech. It is the 'Armored Core' from which the mech and the game series take their name. The human pilot sits inside the core. The Core holds all AC parts together. Thus, unlike a destroyed head, arm, or leg which only reduce an AC's performance upon destruction and will not result in a mission failure, the destruction of the Core would lead to the AC's complete destruction and a mission failed. On all Armored Core timelines, a rigid and complete standard has been set on cores connection technology.

The Core is the Ridepod's most important part, because as your Core is upgraded, you'll be able to attach more and more porwerful attachements.

  • It was used at the Battle of the Roman Legion 1 to protect the fort by sea, along with several other ships. Later, it was used by Ryanus and Garindus on their mission to solve the disppearance of other Roman ships. The ship, when it was attacked by a Predator Squid, was destroyed by the squid. However, Ryanus and Garindus survived. The Core was never replaced.
  • Core is the setting of the RPG Core Thunder and it's sequel, Gear Thunder. Core is both a continent, and a kingdom (the kingdom was founded in the Elven Age by the Elves). Core is located on an unknown planet, which has many other continents: before arriving at Core, most of the sentient races on the planet had never interacted previously.
This has made the Cores come in different weights to suit different styles of ACs; the lighter ones are less well protected but more suitable for more mobile ACs. Similarly, there are highly defensive heavyweight cores. Cores contain a number of slots into which Optional Parts can be placed to improve its operation. Also, some cores have built-in anti-missile systems. These come in the form of a single-barrel situated at the front center of the core that fires a guided beam of energy that shoots down incoming missiles. Generator, FCS, and prime booster are also placed in a core.
I glance back at Gar, who turns his head back towards us. His eyes are clouded. He mouths, "I'm sorry," before turning back to Talon, giving her the closest thing he can to a hug. She looks shocked. "Why did you-" "Talon," he coos, loud enough for Falconpaw and I to hear. "I knew you were always different from the rest of the flock, but not like this." "I never want to hurt anyone again," she squaks. "I made a terrible decision, working with Nebula. I should've never trusted her." "You were young, Talon. You'd had to accept that you wouldn't see your caretakers again, and you didn't really have many friends, so you confided in her." He lets go of her and she glances at us. "What about them?" She raises one of her claws and points at Falconpaw and I. He glances over his shoulder, and he sighs, turning. "Aspenpaw...Falconpaw...follow me." He glances at Talon. "I won't harm them. In fact, you come too. I've changed my mind about all this." Something tells me this is going to be both good and bad at the same time.
Most recent design puzzles include a core existence filter, which awards a bonus if the protein has a suitable core, or else subtracts a penalty. The exact requirements may vary, but a typical core existence filter might require that "at least 30% of the residues are buried in the core of your design". The core exists filter was explained in more detail in a Foldit blog post by bkoep, which states: since the protein is surrounded by water, the only way to hide the hydrophobic residues is to fold them into the center of the protein and shield them from water
  • The Core is a region of United Nations Space Command-controlled space. Formerly known as the Inner Colonies, the sector was renamed during the 2560's as it now encompasses the Sol system, including Earth.
  • Statistically, Core has 840 HP, 79 PP, 264 Attack, 80 Defense, 226 Agility, and 26 Luck. Like all other Mars Djinn that are fought, in terms of resistance, it has a Mars Resistance rating of 193, Venus and Jupiter Resistance ratings of 100 each, and a Mercury Resistance rating of 25, and in regards to its abilities it uses its available Mars-based attacks with a Mars power rating of 125. Core can use the following battle commands: * Searing Beam: Used 53 out of 256 times, this is a Psynergy spell where the user shoots out a large laser-like beam of fire, dealing a Mars-based attack with a power rating of 170 and a range of 7. It consumes 36 of its user's PP. * Pyroclasm: Used 47 out of 256 times, this is a Psynergy spell that causes four fiery pillars explode through the party, dealing a Mars-based attack with a power rating of 180 and a range of 5. It consumes 29 of its user's PP * Serpent Fume: Used 41 out of 256 times, this is a Psynergy spell that shoots out a large serpentine entity of flame that arcs over and crashes into the targeted Adept, dealing a Mars-based attack with a power rating of 130. This ability consumes 14 of its user's PP. * Supernova: Used 35 out of 256 times, this is a Psynergy spell that generates a huge, extended explosion of fiery energy at the entire party, dealing a Mars-based attack with a power rating of 150 and a range of 7. It consumes 31 of its user's PP. * Inferno: Used 29 out of 256 times, this is a Psynergy spell that causes a large group of fire balls to spread out from the user and strike the party, dealing a Mars-based attack with a power rating of 140 and a range of 5. It consumes 23 of its user's PP. * Attack: Used 28 out of 256 times, this is this monster's standard physical attack, but for this monster it is counted as a Mars-based attack rather than a non-elemental attack. * Flee: Used 23 out of 256 times, this enemy has the ability to attempt to Flee the battle, thereby ending the battle if successful without rewarding you with the associated EXP, Coins, and the Djinni itself. Since this is a randomly battled overworld Djinni, however, it can be very quickly fought again just by running around in the same area you first fought it in. When defeated, Core yields 946 EXP and 642 Coins, and the Core Djinni is added to your party's Djinn collection. If you fell it with an offensive Mercury Djinni like Sour, its rewards increase to 1229 EXP and 834 Coins. Being a Djinni accessible as soon as the Great Western Sea opens up, you really should have the Djinn necessary to defeat it with summonings in one turn, while having more left over to contribute to your classes.

  • This message is my map, and this map is my message. The earth here is thin. I move about it so freely, and the ease of it is a delicious thing, but it is also frightful. I dig my inscriptions by feel and touch, and because I know the earth, I know that this will be massive for your senses. Here in this layer of the planet, I am in between my people and your people. I float about in this soft soil like a drifting bubble, weightless and yet handled so delicately within my surroundings that my fragile dome will never burst. I am fit to drift along in euphoria. I would do this forever, if granted the chance, but I have responsibilities to my people, and to our Mother. If I were to glide about, dreamlessly, in this infinite expanse of softrock, a few fathoms beneath your manmade pave-veins, I would lose myself in the arms of Mother, and she would love to have me lost. That exquisite moment will not arrive until your end-time comes. For now, I must finish the task I have been chosen for by our matron. She was born from the hardrock and the fire at the very core of Mother, and so I cherish and love her for choosing me to finish this map for our people. If I were to abandon my quest and return home now, I could be in the heartfire of earth within two of Mother’s circles. Perhaps that holds no meaning for you, but because I have lurked just beneath the pave-vein in your greatest den and homestead of New York City, I know that the word I must use is “years”. You measure your core by a finite passage of time in units. We measure ours by Mother Earth herself, as you once did before in history, before you created the deathly grid and thought yourselves too intelligent to honor Mother. This is what saddens her, and this is the cause of the war between my people and your people. It has taken me over one thousand of your years to reach the earth just below your pave-veins and grids of softrock. At first, I did not understand, and I would glide along through the thin places as your slow moving metal boxes with the rubber feet would adhere to the limited paths that you have provided for them. They are lumbering beasts, unable to dig, deaf and dumb constructs that are reflective of their creators. I do not pity you, because if you had used her gifts the way they were meant to be used, you would be as my people are now. I traveled up from the heartfire at the core, and I learned your grid. I have traveled it, mapped it, and meticulously crafted the crooked places above the soil. They are illogical. Why you take the softrock from Mother’s ample womb and move it to create your own veins is beyond me. It is disgusting, and it gives me more purpose to fulfill what the matron has sent me to your thinplace for. Mother’s veins are designed to be flowed through, to be embraced and traveled as they were created. What you do to her is an abomination. We hear her soft whimpers at night when we try to sleep, and it pains us. The core of fire at her heart is our resting place, and now it is plagued by the agonized wails of the planet. She hid her grief and pain from us, but the noise was too great for us to sleep. You have made us restless. It took time for us to coax her into revealing the source of her sorrow and anguish. That source is you and your people. You have assaulted the most beautiful of beautiful things, and for this, we hate you. You have brought this on yourself. By the time one of your geologists finds this long message, riddled throughout the endless tunnels and archways within Mother that I have dug, it will be too late. The map is already almost finished. What I dig now is only superfluous to our real motivations. I dig this message now to provide an explanation, a reason for what we are about to do. We feel that we do not owe you this. Mother feels differently, despite her scars, and so we honor her wishes. The dig from the core has been long. When I first began in the expanses of hardened molta, I moved slowly. Her screams chased me through the trenches of stone and furious flame as your years passed, and you continued to wound her further. Her pain was my pain, and so my progress quickened. Feeling the shudders of Mother, she caused me to burn bright, to blast through the hardrock and reach the thin places where I can move like one of your bullets. The number of trenches and veins that I have burned through her is incomprehensible to your kind. They are all pathways for my people to travel from the core of fire to your thin place. I have mapped her for them, and so they need only unleash our message to you in the boughs of the clouds. You will see the sky burn as bright as our home at her center, and all of you will perish. It will take us some time to overgrow your atrocious pave-veins with our earth, but we will help her. We will blast them into oblivion as easily as we will blast from the map beneath your beasts on rubber. We will reap the cause of her pain away in one ascending windfall, and then her wails may soften. Eventually, she will be gleeful and throbbing with life once more, and we will fall fitfully asleep, as we should be now, if it were not for your people. This map is my message, and I am growing tired of your thin place in the crust beneath your metropolis dens. They are an affliction on Mother’s perfect face, and because you have marred her beautiful cheeks with her own tears, we will rend you with the very fire that we were born from. • A core is very hard and somewhat resistant to damage, though a solid strike from a Progressive Knife is enough to destroy one. Physically, cores are actually fairly brittle, and when damaged shards chip off and the core fractures, visually behaving like crystalline material. The core appears to uniformly serve as a container for the soul of the Angel or Eva. In humanoids such as Adam, the Evas, and Sachiel—and even Zeruel and Israfel—the core lays exposed in the solar plexus region. (Lilith, alternatively, has no exposed core. Being outside of Adam's "family", she may not possess one at all.) The organ is positioned variously in other Angels. Examples: * Shamshel: "Throat" region, exposed * Ramiel: Centralized location, internal (never seen) * Gaghiel: Back of mouth, visible with jaws open * Sahaquiel: Center of "eye", exposed * Arael: Between "brachial" wings, free-floating Leliel's unusual nature results in what appears to be a flat (rather than spherical) glowing core within three-dimensional space. Ireul presents another odd case in being a collection of many microscopic entities: Is there one "shared" core, or does each individual possess its own? The nature of the cores possessed by the amorphous Bardiel and Armisael is also unknown. For Yui and Kyoko's Contact Experiments and Eva piloting, the ventral end of the Entry Plug is inserted into the core. According to preparations made prior to Yui's Contact Experiment, a cylindrical cavity is excavated to permit the accommodation of the plug (21'). Eva cores also seem to generate their own supply of LCL (20, 23', 26'). Unit-01 uniquely possesses two to four small core-like structures that are situated around her main core. Since it is implied that NERV can alter or even manufacture cores (or some form of) the smaller cores might be artificial inserts, for purposes unknown. One suggestion is that the small cores around the main core serve as a complementary purpose, or as a backup to the main core. At Second Impact, a black circle or ellipse appears in Adam's solar plexus region, apparently smaller in size than the core itself (OP, 12). Possibly related, a dark circle (sphere?) manifests within Unit-01's core shortly before she fuses with the Spear of Longinus (26').
  • Asteroids are divided into different classes, which are visible after scanning. The classes are A, B, C and D. Ore cores are only found in the Class A variety and are the precious essence of asteroids. The asteroids decrease in mineable ore as one goes from A to D.
