When he escaped from custody, he was promoted to Jedi Knight and he gladly took an apprentice named Ryan Abbadon. However, Abbadon had much anger in him and one day, Anar woke up to find that Abbadon had left the Jedi. Anar decided to investigate the Sith who killed his former master and Abbadon's disappearance. When Anar was on Vjun, he figured out that the Sith were building an army and that Abbadon had joined them. When Anar explained this to the Jedi Council, they refused to believe him. Eight years later, the Sith attacked under leadership of Anar's former apprentice, now called Darth Destroyer. Anar and the Jedi fought the Sith for years until Anar killed Destroyer on his flagship over Onderon. Anar was then promoted to Jedi Master and offered a seat on the Council but Anar refused and decided to take another apprentice named Barak Cloud. On a mission to Dantooine in 225 ABY, Anar was killed by his apprentice who had been infected with a strange illness.
