The next year he made the Peterborough Petes; as a rookie in 46 games his totals were 28 goals, 20 assists for 48 points. The following year he improved, and in 62 games his totals were 45 goals 44 assists for 89 points. With one season to go before his draft year, his career was cut short. In the summer of 1971 he died from an electrical accident.
