| abstract | - Yiths are never easy and spiral kings raise the bar once again. They cast Raging Roar often as well as Nether Arrow and Chaos Eye spells, and can cause insanity. They do not cast elemental spells (fire, cold, electricity). One of the best ways to defeat a spiral king is paralyzation. A strong and accurate warrior wielding the Diablo can keep its movement down to a minimum or down to zero. Same thing with an archer or pet bells with a nerve damage projectile weapon. Another simple and effective way to neutralize spiral kings is confusion. Mind element won't do, but by the time you meet a spiral king you will probably come across plenty of grenades (sound element). They work wonders - in confusion, a spiral king may even summon monsters (due to spellcasting failure) which will be friendly towards you. Spiral kings make excellent pets if you manage to catch one; because of their high control magic skill they won't hit you or your allies and they do not cast spells that destroy anything. However it is hardly possible to dominate one, and monster balls of such a high level are very rare. Monster balls in Elona+ are capped at level 200 and are therefore easier to get one that can capture spiral kings.
