He represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1995 in Dublin as their second-ever entrant with the song Kolybelnaya dlya vulkana, finishing in 17th place. A year prior, he married Alla Pugacheva, who would succeed him at the contest in Oslo in 1996. They divorced in 2005. Kirkorov also composed entries for many other Eurovision artists, including Dmitry Koldun (Belarus 2007), Ani Lorak (Ukraine 2008), the Tolmachevy Twins (Russia 2014) and Sergey Lazarev (Russia 2016).
