  • Papaya Trees are a garden tree that produces the homegrown fruit, Homegrown Papayas. They can be grown in a pet's front or back garden by purchasing a normal tree seed at the Garden Shop. This tree was introduced to the Facebook versions of Pet Society on April 28, 2009. After planting, it will take 72 hours for the papaya tree to reach maturity. Afterward, the tree will begin producing fruit, one papaya at a time, randomly. A pet can have up to three total fruits on the tree at once.
  • After 15 minutes or less, the planted seed will become a Papaya sapling and can then be transferred to a Fruit tree patch. The fruit tree patch must be raked clean of weeds. Compost or Supercompost may be added prior to planting using a spade and trowel. The nearby farmer will watch over your patch at a cost of 10 pineapples (may be noted). The high cost of papaya tree seeds in relation to the cost of pineapples makes it advisable to pay the farmer to watch over it.

An Amulet of nature may be bound to the patch to provide progress on its growth. Once mature, the tree produces six papaya fruits at a time. Papaya tree seeds may be obtained from bird nests.

The high cost of papaya tree seeds in relation to the cost of pineapples makes it advisable to pay the farmer to watch over it. Planting the papaya tree sapling gives 72 farming experience. A healthy papaya tree, when checked, provides 6,146.6 farming experience. If the farmer does not watch the tree, then disease may grow on the tree which may be removed using secateurs. However, if left alone, the diseased tree will die. A papaya tree sapling may take fourteen or more hours to mature. An Amulet of nature may be bound to the patch to provide progress on its growth. Once mature, the tree produces six papaya fruits at a time. Each papaya fruit, when picked, gives 27 farming experience. Once all 6 papaya fruits have been picked, the tree will slowly produce more fruits until all 6 are available again. Generally, it takes 30 minutes for a papaya to grow back, so about 3 hours are required for all 6 to grow back. However, the papaya fruits may be picked anytime they show on the tree. Papaya seeds may be obtained from Pawya as well as bird's nests and Jade vine monster drops; papaya fruits are required to trap Pawya. For the Ardougne Tasks (hard), a papaya tree (or a palm tree if the player chooses to), must be grown and have its fruit picked in the fruit tree patch west of the Tree Gnome Village.
